I have a basic simple 20dma on a daily nq bar chart. As of the close on Friday my chart gives it as 12871. Almost all of the traders in The PIT have it higher as 12877. Bish, who you will know runs the Pit, and has SC, also has the higher level. I have on my chart the 'simple moving average', and then added 'moving average' which is the selection at bottom of all the moving average charts. The second is what Bish has. But even when I add 'moving averages' with the 3 selections, one of which I set to 20, it also comes up with 12871.

any ideas why?

Intraday data versus Historical Data. See if one you has the setting for Chart Data Type set to Intraday Data Only and another as Historical.

Another possibility is that you are not using the same Continuous Contract Rules, or one may have a Continuous Contract and the other not.

There are a lot of possible reasons, you just have to look at everything and make sure they are the same. Not to mention differences in the Data itself if you are using different data feeds.

Is there a way to get 'Closing Price' to calculate the Simple MA?

I was actually working through something similar this past week, I'm using a Daily Historical chart for reference. Input Data has Open, High, Low, Last etc but not Close. Any reason? How to get the MA based on closing price?

As a side note if I use HLC Avg I get 12878.08 for the 20MA on NQ.

Hi Support and Neo,

I think Neo has hit it on the head. Sierra doesn't offer the ma to be calculated on the close. Why is that SC? Could you please make it an option as it doesn't seem like it would that hard to tweek and add to the choices. Thank you so much.

Last and Close have the same meaning for a chart bar.
