OEC backfill issue explanation

It may help if the OEC users that rely on backfill data with the OEC/Sierra combination could get more information on exactly what is the source of the problem. Most of us would contact OEC directly and raise this as an OEC problem that needs attention and resolution on their end. This will help eliminate OEC just pointing the finger back to Sierra.

FYI - It is after 8:30 eastern and the backfill from the Sunday open is still not working.

According to OEC, Sierra was disconnected from the OEC server for a time on Sunday. That is why the data is missing. It should be filled in "later today" according to OEC. That does no good for this morning!

Just curious, for what symbols are you missing data and the time period?

Missing data from market close on Friday all the way until I opened chart this morning at about 9a Eastern. ESH4 is the symbol.

Don't have that issue here - data is filled from Sunday evening open at 1800ET until current. I had SC open to connect though at about 1730ET so I suspect if you didn't have it open, there is yet another "historical" data issue. I've had that happen numerous times recently.

FYI, occasionally when that has happened, I change the data settings server to SC historical to load data and then switch it back to OEC to begin tracking realtime.

You are correct, I did not log on to SC yesterday (Sunday) at all.

Switching to "Historical" didn't seem to work, however when I went back to Intraday chart the data now appears starting at 4:40am Monday...so maybe it did work "sort of".

Thanks for the advice!

Try setting historical data server to SC historical. then try a delete and download from 1800ET, Sunday or I guess in your case the close on Friday 02.28.14. All the data should fill - then switch to OEC for realtime.

For historical data issues it is best to contact us rather than OEC because OEC cannot directly help with the problem.

The backend connection we have to OEC was not connecting because the OEC server was down and this is what caused the problem.

At this time the historical data has been restored. For instructions to download the missing data, refer to help topic 7.1:

If you still have missing data, let us know what particular symbol and we will fill it in.

Try setting historical data server to SC historical. then try a delete and download from 1800ET, Sunday or I guess in your case the close on Friday 02.28.14. All the data should fill - then switch to OEC for realtime.

Do you mean setting the Service to SC Historical Data? The problem with this, is that the symbology is different. The Sierra Chart Historical Data service uses two digit years. Although for the current contract a single digit year probably would work.

Yes that is what I meant and yes it does seem to work for current year contracts

We just had to reset the connection to OEC on our backend.

Re-download the Intraday data following the instructions in help topic 7.1 here:
