Hello, I read this: Chart Settings: Intraday Chart Bar Period >> Bar Period Type >> Range Per Bar - Standard (in ticks) (Chart >> Chart Settings menu) and I read this: Number Of Trades, Volume or Range Bar Charts Do Not Match Setting or Are Not Accurate or Are Inconsistent: How Price Display Format Affects Range Bar Charts But I still don't understand, why 2 charts of NZDCHF with two different price display formats differ so much. One of them has even more candles than the other one. I checked all candles with chart values tool on both charts, they all have the same correct range. For both charts: bars type: range per bar - standard, set to 80 gap fill: none new bar at session start is off do not load weekend data tick size: 0.000050 currency value per tick: 0.00005 date range: from 2020-12-01 to 2021-03-08 The first chart has price display format set to 0.0001 http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1615225484810.png The second chart has price display format set to 0.00001 http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1615225519493.png Why so big difference? Also, in the first link it says: "It is necessary that the Price Display Format setting, also on the Chart Settings window, is set correctly for the Symbol when using Bar Period Type >> Range Per Bar", what is the correct setting in this case? By default, price display format for NZDCHF is 0.0001. How to determine the correct setting for any symbol? How come this became user discussion? Users know better than SC development team about setting up SC and the way it works? |

The Price Display Format needs to have the same number of decimal places as the tick size. So if the tick size is 0.00005, than the Price Display Format needs to be 0.00001 The correct tick size is the minimum value that price can change. Go to Global Settings >> Symbol Settings >> NZDCHF and verify the Price Display Format, Tick Size, and Currency Value Per Tick for data feed you are using. You could set custom values for these, but the underlying data granularity would need to support it. Global Symbol Settings |

I can't find that rule in the documentation. It is my own determination. The Price Display Format could have more decimal places than the Tick Size, but not fewer. If the Price Display Format has fewer decimal places than the Tick Size, a new range bar would not always occur when expected. |

That's why I'd like to hear what SC team will say on this matter and re 1st post overall. If the Price Display Format has fewer decimal places than the Tick Size, a new range bar would not always occur when expected.
I created 2 NZDCHF charts with Price Display Format set to 0.001, 1st chart has Tick Size set to 0.0001, the 2nd chart has Tick Size set to 0.00005. They look identical. It is when Price Display Format changes, the chart changes too. SC development team, please elaborate on this subject. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-03-15 18:47:58
