I really don't get how to save a DOM, such as a template. I saw that you save it to chartbook, but then what if you close it? It's literally gone, so you have to keep it over forever and ever, or else you have to redo it from scratch?

I saw that you can edit the global graphics settings, but what about studies and the like?

I've spent a ton of time trying to figure out how to do this, and haven't found the links in support very helpful.

Having the same issue with the quoteboard? Do I just have to keep it open forever?

From a certain perspective what you are stating about needing to keep the Trading DOM and Quote Board windows open forever is correct. If you want to keep those windows associated with a specific chart with the way you have them setup, then you need to keep them open.

But, you can also use the concept of a Template, where you save the windows (in an open state) as part of a Chart that is part of a Chartbook. Then you can open that Chartbook and Chart and have those windows the way they were when you saved them. You could then change the symbol of that chart as you need.

Hi John, thank you for your response. I tried duplicating a chart to chartbook, but I don't think the settings were saved. When I brought up a new DOM the same settings weren't there.

Is there something I missed?

You need to duplicate the Trading DOM as well. The Trading DOM is it's own chart. It also has the command under the Chart menu.

Thanks John, one more quick question. Is there a way to turn the quoteboard and/or DOM ladder into a tab on a chartbook, like my other charts? Or do I have to keep them open as their own windows? Thanks.

A Quote Board cannot be a tab.

However a Trading DOM can be. You just need to go to that Trading DOM and select this command:
