Hello,

Im looking to find out how i do set up a chart book in sierra for invite only. I have a chart book i'd like to share with a group of friends but do not want to share my code. How do i go about making this happen? I have seen this done before with guys selling/leasing indicators or algos so i know it can be done through the username some how.

Please let me know the proper steps to set this up

thanks

I have made some custom renko charts that took me a very long to produce and i was looking to let them use my charts not hand over completely all my hard work. I know there are guys that do custom indicators that sell services on line and use sierra and they can add their chart book to your platform via your user name. I was looking to do the same. (Except im not charging) i just dont want them to spread my charts around freely.. I wanted to let them use them but i remained in control of the source basically.

Can you please inform me how this procedure is done. thanks

If you created custom charts, without custom studies, then you cannot copy protect the chartbook. If what makes your renko charts custom is ACSIL custom studies, then you can follow the steps here to control who can execute the study.

Advanced Custom Study Interface and Language (ACSIL): Redistributing and Allowing Use Only by a Defined List of Users

So even if someone has a copy of the chartbook and the DLL for the custom study, you can control who is authorized to run it.

In addition to what bradh has said above, you can also password control the studies that have been put on a chart. So even if you have just used standard Sierra Chart studies, but you want to protect the particular settings you used, you can do this. Refer to the information here:

Im so sorry for asking this but I am not the best when navigating around sierra.... Where Do i find the information for the CPP file so i can add it to the list for custom studies? I have 6 custom charts that im trying to share that i have in one chart book and they are super complex with adjusted settings in each chart. Here is a few examples attached.. Perhaps due to my lack of coding abilities these should be custom studies by now and im not sure how to exactly make it that. I know this is the worst answer i can give considering most of you guys in here are well versed especially in sierra/code, so please bear with me and I apologize. I was only allowed to do 3 attachments on this MSG so i included 2 of the charts that work together but only got a chance to do a clip of the settings for the 1st indicator. but you can see they are very complex is what i was trying to show.

Based on your study settings, it does not appear that you are using a custom study, so there is no cpp file. Without a custom study, you cannot control who is authorized to run it. You can allow only certain people to download the chartbook, but you will not prevent them from sharing it with others, nor lock other users out.

A developer could combine most of the elements of your studies into a custom study, however, some of them, like the numbers bars study cannot be coded into a custom study as the source code is not provided for them by Sierra. The best you can do is use a password on the studies and hide your settings. The password is not needed to use the study, only to hide it.
