This is the third time in about a month I have noticed very strange, brief price action on MES or MNQ that defies my understanding of how the market can/should work.

See this screenshot: https://share.getcloudapp.com/KouroE4E
It appears to move in a huge range of 36 ticks in mere seconds on volume of about 1% of normal.

Yesterday this not only wiped out my entire day's profit, it blew up my account (yes I need to put better safeguards in place).

Has anyone else noticed/witnessed this phenomenon? It does not reflect in the /ES price action. Could it be an SC or CQG data feed issue?

Check the news calendar - FOMC and Fed interest rates announcement.
Exaggerated price movement not unusual when liquidity is removed prior to important news release.

You learned a lesson the hard way, in the live market, no less.

Always pull your live orders from the DOM before any important news announcements, as noted above.

Has anyone else noticed/witnessed this phenomenon?

Yes, just about every trader has had this happen to them, at least once. It is not unusual or unexpected and does not require any investigation or such.

Just stay flat thru the news announcement and trade your plan when the news period has passed.

This is a small range in current market volatility environment. And micro contracts can diverge far from the major contracts due to low liquidity/algos running stops on the micros. I have seen MGC go 80t out of line from GC around the metals open.
