...that defies my understanding of how the market can/should work. You learned a lesson the hard way, in the live market, no less. Always pull your live orders from the DOM before any important news announcements, as noted above. Has anyone else noticed/witnessed this phenomenon? Yes, just about every trader has had this happen to them, at least once. It is not unusual or unexpected and does not require any investigation or such. Just stay flat thru the news announcement and trade your plan when the news period has passed.
