inside sierra chart program under data file.

system has started saving my chartbook files as backups, which is fragmenting my chartbooks rendering them useless???????

why,
has system started doing this without any prompting???

saving all my chartbook files as backups which are not usable by sierra chart system?
backups are not visible under main tool bar, under file.

this is slowly destroying my work...

This is not making any sense to us. Backup files have always been made. Due to recent changes with Chartbook files, when re-saving a Chartbook in a newer version and it is in an older format, a backup is made directly within the Data folder. This does not cause any problem.

So your statements are completely inconsistent with fact. This is a completely ridiculous statement:

which is fragmenting my chartbooks rendering them useless???????

destroying my work...

This is not in file named “Backups”.

It is in file named “Data”.
My version was in data file under my assigned file name and after file it “tacked on”, “added on”, “.backup”

The file “8Z6” which got “.backup” added on is 4.46 MB.

My newly saved “8Z7” version (with new) study additions saved as 90.1 KB.
It is NOT ALL there...

If I email you my newly saved version of 8Z7 file there is no way it will correctly open...
I can’t email this to myself and save a copy in my yahoo email account...
As 80-90% of newly saved 8Z7 still resides inside the older 8Z6 file...
In order for 8Z7 version to work on another machine it will have to connect to the previous months of work stored in 8Z6 older version....
I have no intention of distributing this work! But very much wish to safely save it...

This just started happening in “data” file.
None have ever saved old version as “.backup” tagged on! This is a brand new event as I check “Data” file every single time for correct time/date stamp after hitting save button...

The ".backup" files in the Data folder were created when you upgraded to a more recent version. These were automatically created when saving a Chartbook file in case you needed to go back to an older version. You will find the information on this in the 2nd entry here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/Whats_New.php#SCVer2111

If you are stating that you are missing data due to the new file size, then this is not the case. We have implemented a new chartbook compression, so it is normal for their to be a difference in filesize.

You can also delete the backups just simply by selecting the file name in the Open Chartbook window and pressing the Delete button.

When you are copying Chartbooks to another computer, make sure Sierra Chart on that other computer, is also up-to-date:
