Dear Support

Today I experienced freezing/unresponsive issues using the new compact chartbook.
Following loading a chartbook using the new compression all seemed fine until I changed symbols using the quote board at which time I experience high CPU usage, Sierra Chart stops responding, becomes unstable and displays the circular working cursor with the only action available being to force its closure. It does not recover without closure.

On loading the uncompressed chartbook saved as *backup2092.cht everything works fine without issue as do other chartbooks.

I have run all system and mem checks and everything is fine (i7 9700). I've read though threads and considered a data issue but the old chartbook and other compressed chartbooks update and work fine.

I have also re-saved the open chartbook which is experiencing issues before I make any changes - but the new chartbook also exhibits the same issue.

Is it possible corruption is occurring during compression? I await your comments.

A further question is whether compression is a necessity in all cases?

Many thanks

Update: If I save the original *backup2092.cht the newer compressed chartbook created works fine but obviously you cannot do that if its already compressed meaning changes and analysis will not will not be present subsequent to the original *backup2092.cht backup.
Many thanks

The issue is not related to the Chartbook file compression. We would never consider that.

There is some other problem.

Thank you for reply.

However, its definitely not hardware related and I've already been through the suggested topic when I upgraded everything at the beginning of the year. All PC's are now at least i7 9700 + fast RAM and M.2's etc etc.

I can watch the issues via the resource monitor and its the compressed chartbook that is causing the issues. The backup chartbook can be opened and then re-saved in it's new compressed format without issue so that confirms hardware is fine.

I am still concerned as to whether its compression related and as the loss of a chartbook after even a few days would be a real nightmare I've written a bat file to backup all compressed chartbooks on a daily basis.

Is it at all possible for compression to be a user choice and/or after further consideration and the removal of hardware failure from the equation, can you think of any situation that might have caused compression/decompression corruption?

As always, great software and support.

Many thanks

We are sure it is not related to the compression.

If you have a Chartbook, that you are using where you are encountering a problem when there is something that you do within it related to the Chart Settings or Studies or Study Settings, then attach it here. Let us know the procedure to reproduce. Instructions:

Many thanks.
As you suggest it was most likely an error in a study that I applied (user inputs) as I've not received an issues since I recreated the chartbook.
