>"...The connection to Open ECry is now being transitioned to use a FIX and FAST connection. The old .NET/CLR connection has been removed. Until this is complete, which should only take a few more days, the connection to OEC is not supported. Therefore, if you are an OEC user, please do not update to this version..."

That is post from version 1080; does version 1081 support this as of now?

1081 does support trading using OEC FIX but there is a problem with market data. There is an unexpected problem with the FAST protocol that we are working out. It is not quite clear who side it is on . Whether it is on our side or the OEC side. Now if you are only using the Sierra Chart Futures data feed and not relying on the OEC data feed, then this does not matter and you can update.

I am using OEC intraday data so apparently v1081 will not work. Please contact when new version functions with OEC data. Thank you.

Is version 1084 the update that includes OEC support for market data from OEC?

OEC market data processing using FIX/FAST is now functioning correctly in version 1086. You can give it a test. But please consider it still a beta.

OK, thank you for the heads up. Gave it a try - receive this error. No time to troubleshoot today; going back to 1078.

The server is closing the connection after logging on. Not sure why. Usually this is the result of the computer's clock not being set correctly or having another connection to OEC. The server will only allow one. You should still be able to run the OEC Trader software at the same time though.

Can you install the latest Sierra Chart version to another folder on your system.

Try connecting when you are not connected from your other copy of Sierra Chart and then use the Send For Analysis button on the Window >> Show/Hide Message Log. Let us know when you send it and we will have OEC look into the problem.

OK, installed on another drive, logged off my main installation. Same error on the new install - sent for analysis. I tried with both OEC Trader running and with OEC Trader logged out. Same result

We discovered a problem in the version of Sierra Chart that uses the FIX/FAST connection where the historical Intraday data was not being downloaded from the correct server when using OEC. This has been resolved. You should update when you can by selecting Help >> Download Prerelease.

Is the version 1087 I downloaded earlier this morning, roughly 1230Z, the same is this "new" version you are listing as pre-release?

Sierra Chart Engineering - Posts: 104368
No. You would have gotten older revision with the problem. The data would have been downloaded from the OEC server which really has a limited amount of historical data.

There is also an issue with the market depth data we still need to work on.

For the most part, version 1088 seems to be functioning fine for charting. I only use OEC Trader for trades so I am unfamiliar with trading platform in SC. With that said, I am running both SC ver1088 (using OEC data for realtime feed in SC) and OEC Trader simultaneously. It was extremely rare in versions 1078 or lower to ever have a disconnect/reconnect issue in SC. Today during economic news release times when prices were moving quickly, I had 4-5 disconnects and reconnects over a 10 min period surrounding the news. Again, I could go weeks on the old versions without this ever occurring. The only thing that has change is upgrading to version 1088 and instead of having a separate username for SC and OEC Trader, now I use the same one per OEC instructions via your support. Has anyone else reported this issue? Thanks.

We will have to let OEC know about the disconnect issue. We also need to see the Message Log when this occurs. Here are the instructions to provide it:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=PostingInformation.php#log

One thing about a disconnect is that it is more noticeable that this occurs because Sierra Chart directly handles the network socket connection and the Message Log will open if the socket is unexpectedly closed.

I hope I am not hijacking the thread. I am having the exact same problem. I am getting disconnection message from SC in version 1088 (I am able to connect to OEC via version 1077).

Here is the Message Log, hope it helps your investigation.

Is there a message log history located somewhere in folders? If so I can send the portion of yesterday's log wherein the disconnects occurred.

Anytime there was a disconnect in versions 1078 or older I received a notice in message log as well - the message log would pop up. This is how I know for certain that disconnects were rare occurrences, even during FOMC news, ECB and BOE news or Non-Farm payroll news events.

This is an indication that the server did not accept the logon request and logged you out immediately. They really should give a reason why. The logon message does support this.

What you need to do is make sure you have the correct Username and Password set in Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings. For further help, let OEC know that you are connecting using FIX/FAST and to provide you the proper Username and Password to use.

This also could be because the FIX server is not made available over the weekend. We will ask them if they can bring the server up.

----

In regards to the disconnections during high market activity. These are server-side problems. We will need to let OEC know about these. This issue is definitely not on the Sierra Chart side. We also wonder if this has something to do with their implementation of FAST which we discovered is not completely compliant with the FAST protocol or not at least completely as intended. It has to do with the application of the dictionaries to the different messages and fields.

They might disagree, but we know for sure because we developed our own FAST decoder rather than using one of the open source libraries that they did.

Is there a message log history located somewhere in folders?
Only if you have Global Settings >> General Settings >>Save Message Log to File enabled.
