Hello,

I was not receiving real-time data since I forgot to renew the plan. I don't remember getting any message but I also can't affirm that I did not receive it at the moment.

The deal is that I was still able to trade and order being filled with delayed data! I was not aware of this possibility and that seems pretty risky to be allowed.

Fortunately, I did not lose a considerable amount of money but It could have been pretty painful in different circumstances.

I would like to know what SC thinks about the ability to trade during delayed data?

my best

Are you not receiving real-time data now? If not, for what symbol?

I was not receiving since I had not update the service but I was not aware. I was trading the MES and orders were getting filled in a weird way so it took a while to figure out that I was trading with delayed data what I tought was not possible.

First we want to make it very clear it is the exchange who has an immense amount of rules and control over real-time data and a significant amount of our users do not receive real-time data for various reasons. It is the exchange which creates the concept of delayed data and creates a safety problem.

So we do our best to provide data as timely and complete as possible. The next step is delayed data, the next step is historical data which updates periodically and the below that is historical data which does not update.

We and our users suffer greatly every day over this issue. It is a monumental problem which wastes immense amounts of our time and it is very detrimental to us and users. And it only gets worse. The London stock exchange for example does not even let historical data out without a fee. Same thing with FTSE Russell.

You have to pay extra to the exchange to even have real-time data immediately available on a second computer for redundancy.

You can tell the data is delayed by looking at the last trade time in the chart header area and comparing it to the current time and we also have a new "Data Delay" field available which will indicate the exact amount of delay:
Working With Charts: Chart Header Field Descriptions

For example the market data on our web-based trading panel, by default will be delayed so market data is assured to be available on it.
