corrupted?

hi
I started running into weird issues; 0) extremely slow to load, 1) lots of "improper argument' messages, for no clear reason, 2) text disappearing from menus, setting screens, etc - probably whole windows messed up, as text and fonts disappear out of other windows applications, including task manager to kill processes.

I thought it might have had t do with my Pc (2 GHz, dual core, 4 logical, 8GB RAM physical, 16 GB virtual), running out of memory and processing power, so I created a copy in a new machine (32 core, 64 logical, 16GB RAM physical, 18GB virtual).
Improper argument messages still there.
I closed and reopened, and now the Keltner channels are not even showing on this chart, as example:
http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1586213296812.png

Also, extremely slow to load.
I typically work with 17 chartbooks open.
each have several charts, and each chart has many indicators.

Could you please advise as to whether I'm overloading Sierra with these many chartbooks/charts?
Please advise how to get to the bottom of the cause of the error messages I'm getting? Any way to 'clean up' the rubbish left behind when removing indicators, resaving chartbooks, etc?
Any way to find out if there are some corrupted portions?
Some gral advise to optimize performance and speed?

Thanks

Another example;

I did a fast update
I reopened my Sc instance with all my chartbooks
In this chart, subgraphs windows of my studies are empty.. can't do anything...
and whatever setting change I attempt, it gives me "encountered an improper argument"..
something is wrong/corrupted
Please advise
thanks

it's worse... now my SC is just crushing out of the blue for no reason and closing everything down

Re-opened it after the crash.. clicking on Analysis menu, it crashed it again

In addition... If I switch from having many chartbook s open to just a few, but quoteboards to switch between symbols.. is there any way to leave data in cache or something so it doesn;t load the whole thing every time I switch symbols? it takes forever to load. Please advise

yes, I've done that... it has happened before, I restart, get it to work, but eventually happens again. It's a recurrent issue

I just restarted computer and sierra once more.
I could access subgraphs window... changed the color of keltner channel to white, but still not visible... although i can kind of see a subtle line drawn across (black against black background)... see image of lnk I sent above if you can spot anything.
However, clicking on Analysis, again crashed Sierra and threw me off

There may be an out of memory condition occurring. We are going to prepare some documentation related to this and will post a link here.

thanks. Just to add to it.
I closed all chartbooks, fast-downloaded/installed latest Sierra again, and opened a single chartbook.
Still hovering over ANALYSIS crashes Sierra...on both computers

Could you provide some guidance please?
This is unworkable and I don't know what else to try.
Sierra keeps crashing.

Also (I don't know if it has to do with it at all), but a trading system based on a simple alert is actually working fine, as I can see the fills on the chart when backtesting, the the trade activity log is empty. The Trade service log doesn't report anything.
Please help

This a backtest I just run
I don't need help with the code... I know you don't provide that.
It's just for you to see that fills are there but no activity is recorded.

We prepared these instructions:
Sierra Chart Unexpectedly Shutting Down | Memory Errors | Unusual Software Problems | Exception Errors | Freezing of User Interface: Resolving Unstable/Improper Functioning Due to Insufficient Memory Available

And be sure to follow the step, to use sub instances. You need to distribute that the Chartbooks among more instances of Sierra Chart. Do not use just one.

And we recommend increasing the memory on your system to 32 GB.

but a trading system based on a simple alert is actually working fine, as I can see the fills on the chart when backtesting, the the trade activity log is empty.
Carefully follow through the instructions here:

Trade Activity Log: Viewing Historical Trade Activity

With nothing else running on my computer... running Sierra_64, and with no chartbooks opened, and no chart being created yet, clicking or even hovering over Analysis still crashes Sierra.
(this is Sierra 2079)

I could make a 10 sec video showing you these steps and send it out to you
Please advise

No please do not send us a video. It is useless for us. You need to try another computer. This does not sound like it could be a Sierra Chart problem at all. We do not need to be told about problems with the Windows operating system or user specific issues due to their systems.

I installed Sierra on a new, better computer, and get the same.
My original question was about tracking down potentially corrupt files...
The crash occurs even with no chartbooks open, so it's not a bad study of mine, etc.

On the new pc, I copied the entire SierraChart folder content from the other pc, so I suspect a file(s) in it may be creating the problem.... how to chase that? How to trace possible corrupt files?

We want you to reset Sierra Chart to a default state following the instructions here:
Resetting Sierra Chart to a Default State / Restoring Backup Global Configuration File: Resetting Sierra Chart to a Default State

Let us know if that solves the problem and if so then we need to get the main configuration file from you.

Hi
Yep... that did solve it...
All it took was to rename the first file only: Sierra3.cfg --> to Sierra3.cfg.backup
After doing that one change, and re-launching Sierra, a new Sierra3.cfg file was created and now Sierra runs fine, no crashes.

I have lost my customized control bars (buttons on top), and not sure what else.
I attached both cfg files for you to have a look.
Many thanks

We found the problem. We will have a release out later today which resolves this. The problem is that Global Settings >> General Settings >> General 4>> Maximum Items per Column for Study Collections Menu is set to 0 in your case.

What was occurring was a division by zero exception.

But this is not a problem when hovering over the Analysis menu. Only when actually clicking on that menu but maybe your system behaves differently for an unknown reason.

So you can now restore the backup file, and just correct that one setting. Let us know if you want instructions for that.
