rogue twconfig problem

Summary: an old and non-existent twconfig file randomly gets used when I use a hot key to enter a trade. The settings file previously existed, it does not anymore. There must be a simple explanation.

Details:
Experimenting with SIM. Using new hotkeys for buy/sell. I recently set the hot keys after resetting previous settings. That is the only recent change. I have a main and second instance running.

I have selected a new trade config and actively using it.

Then suddenly, an old twconfig file gets employed for a few trades. I have not touched the config window all day. The old config name is NOT displayed in the trade window pulldown menu. But it is listed in the Trade Activity Log against the trades. The old config is buying 2 lots rather than 1 and has a different stop loss. It is totally different.

The old config remains active for a few trades, then new trades revert back to using the one which is displayed in the trade window.

The old twconfig file doesn't exist on my harddrive. It is an old one. Maybe I changed the settings some time ago and resaved it with another name, I do not know recall.
I have checked the data folders for both instances. I have checked all my hotkeys for trade window configurations in both instances. None are set.

I have attached the twconfig file I have been using.

We looked into the only possibility of what could be happening which would be related to a keyboard shortcut for a trade window configuration file or ACSIL changing the configuration and neither of those can be a possibility to load a nonexistent trade window configuration file.

We cannot provide any further help. This does not make any sense to us and once again we cannot provide any further help.

I have removed all the .twconfig files from the data folders for both Main and 2nd installation and have created a single brand new config. If it happens again, I will delete and replace all keyboard short cuts.

I suspect the old non-existent config file that is re-appearing was edited and renamed to the new one I am using now.

I am afraid to say it happened again. I know you can't offer any help. And I know it makes no sense. But it is worse than last time:

- I now only have one, brand new, twconfig in my data folder of the Main instance. The second instance data folder contains none. All old twconfig files were removed to my desktop.
- a twconfig called "8tickSL" which does not exist on my hard drive, was randomly used to execute a trade. It is the same one as previously. It used to exit, it no longer does.
- I have no keyboard shortcut assigned to trade window configurations.

There might be a simple explanation. But you need to know that this situation exists. It is really happening. I cant help but think of the trading consequences.

In regards to "8tickSL", is this being set by a custom study? Check all the trade window configuration keyboard shortcuts to make sure none of them are using this.

Sierra Chart is not going to just randomly change the trade window configuration to a specific file.

I have never written, nor has anyone written for me, a custom study.

There are no trade window configuration keyboard shortcuts set. But there used to be.

All I can find is a button on a control bar that I do not use, and the label of that button refers to the "8tickSL" config. There is no trade window config assigned to that button.

I only have one twconfig file in the Sierra data folder. "8tickSL" does not exits, yet it is mentioned in the Trade Activity tab of the log.

Is there a way to export/backup my current shortcut key settings?

Keeps happening.

I started SC, hit sell hotkey, and that non-existent twconfig was back. Sold the wrong quantity. Closed the position immediately. Sold again, same thing, wrong twconfig. Closed the position. Sold again...and this time the correct twconfig came into play.

A few trades later "8tickSL.twconfig" came back. Then went again. See attached. I have no apparent control over when it happens. It seems random to me.

See also Trade Window twconfig pulldown menu. There is only one config file in existence "SL Only.twconfig"

This is SIM. But clearly I can not experience this live.

I assume I will have to do a totally clean install of Sierra Chart to get rid of this pretty serious problem? Just back up my chartbooks.

We think this could be related to Chart Linking and linking the Trade Window:
Working With Charts: Chart Linking

But that does not really make sense either but it is just the best idea we can determine.

All I can find is a button on a control bar that I do not use, and the label of that button refers to the "8tickSL" config.
Remove this from the Control Bar.

- No linking is set for the chart I am trading from. And the only linking I can find in the chart book is for symbol. Last week I was experimenting with linking study settings, but that is gone.

- Button removed.

Thanks for at least considering this very odd situation.

Still happening after that button was removed.

Testing on SIM: I'll enter a trade, the correct (and only) twconfig employed. Exit 1 minute later. Enter another 15 seconds later... and the rogue twconfig is employed.

It really jumps in and out of action for no apparent reason like that.

We need to get the Chartbook and the main configuration file (Sierra3.CFG) and we will test. Our best analysis is this is related to Chart Linking.

I think I worked it out. It depended on which chart I last clicked on when I hit the buy hot key. I click between charts very often. I will explain:

Chart A: used for trade entry. DOM and Trade Window are attached.

Chart B: used for analysis. No DOM nor Trade Window. But... chart trade mode was on so that I can see working orders on it and so that no matter where I have last clicked within SC, I can trade with hotkeys. The result of that is I do not pay attention to what chart is active when I trade. I click on Chart B all the time for analysis. And that caused the problem:

1. I accidentally noticed that if Chart B was the last chart I had clicked on, then the extinct "8tickSL" twconfig file would be employed.
2. So I activated the Trade Window for that chart, and there was no twconfig file selected in the pull down. It was blank.
3. My guess is that the last twconfig file selected for that chart was the extinct "8tickSL" file.
4. At some stage I wrote over and renamed "8tickSL", and it no longer existed.
5. Therefore Chart B no longer had a twconfig to employ in the Trade Window, based on the last selected. But somehow it 'remembered' the extinct "8tickSL" file???
6. I selected a twconfig file for Chart B, and can no longer reproduce the problem.

I hope I did not waste your time. But also hope I found a low probability user error.

5. Internally it will, and we will make sure that when a Chartbook is opened, that this particular internal string variable is cleared if there is no trade window configuration file which actually exists.
