New versions are overwriting sierra3.cfg and possibly other .cfg settings.

Dear Support

In each of the recent version updates I find myself having to reset control bar 1 and control bar 8. Possibly others/areas are affected also?
With this in mind can I ask whether this is now expected to be the norm and will be continuing into the future especially as I have a significant number of customizations that take much time to reset?
If this is the case which is not an issue if known, can I ask that the new installation saves all previous personal configurations/settings in such a way that they can be recovered/imported back as a part of the upgrade process?

Also v2068 Control bar 1 Custom Time Period unlike the custom text and some other options has its Button Caption and Description empty/blank although on opening the version update all Custom Time Periods are complete and visible.

Many thanks

This is just not true at all. Additionally, there are no changes to any control bar button properties you have specifically made. Those remain. The only change is documented here:

If you want to use a backup configuration file, , refer to:
Restoring Backup Global Configuration File

But this is not going to help you.

Yes this does make sense and is expected for those particular buttons. There is no consequence to this.

Definitely true but not an issue. For example in both toolbars 1 and 8 there are 'Button Caption' changes as well as changes to the 'use caption/Image' settings. Again not an issue had I backed up the original settings to make replication faster.

I had just wondered if the changes could be pre-empted with a forced .cfg save on update but in future I'll save the file prior to any version update which I should be doing already and which is already illustrated by Sierra3.cfg.Friday etc in the main folder.

The changes to the toolbars which include control over the 'point size' settings are excellent so many thanks for these enhancements.

Thank you.

as well as changes to the 'use caption/Image' settings.
That should not be the case.

Tell us one of the buttons this happens with. Only one button. Provide us a backup Sierra3.CFG file from about two weeks ago and then we will test. We will be very surprised if this is actually the case. Instructions are in our prior post about how to access those files.
