Hello, every time I try and change my chart update interval in seconds for my DOM, it changes it back to 0. It is at 0 right now and if I click on it and change it to 1, it will flash and become 0 again. Please let me know if you can help, thanks.

Chart update interval is measured in milliseconds.
The lowest setting possible is 10ms.
For 1 second update interval, set to 1000ms.

General Settings Window: Chart Update Interval (Global Settings >> General Settings >> General >> Update Intervals)

Yes you need to set the Chart Update Interval to 1000 in your case.

Hey there,
I was wondering what is the relation of chart update interval setting to the monitor refresh rate?
If my chart update interval is set to 200ms and my monitor is just 60Hz refresh rate will the screen be updated with no delay?
Or possibly I should consider to change monitor to a 'gaming like' where refresh rate can be 144Hz or more?
I could not find answer for that on the forum. What's your opinion on that?
Thanks in advance!

Assuming that you are doing manual trading only - that is you are not running any automated trading processes, then the Chart Update Interval does have a relationship to the screen refresh rate, as it is about how quickly the human eye can process the changes. The human eye works at a refresh rate of about 60 Hz, which is part of the reason why the refresh rate for televisions was set as it was.

Keep in mind that 60Hz means that there is an update 60 times per second or at an interval of .01667 seconds, which is 16.67 milliseconds.

Therefore setting the refresh to anything faster than 16 milliseconds does not gain anything for visual purposes. The lowest you can set the refresh rate is 10 milliseconds.

This is the long way to say that getting a faster monitor will not help.

Hi,

I am looking for help here. My alerts on SC chart have delay even I am using 1 minute chart. The alert signal does not show up after few candles from the alert candle. I constantly have to go to menu Analysis, select my saved study name to show those alert signals back on the chart. It is so inconvenience that I will miss many good trades. Can you please help me how to have the alert signal updated for every 10 seconds for example. Thank you very much.

There is something not right with your alert if it is not going off until a few bars later. Also, check to see if you have the option for Evaluate on Bar Close enabled, as that will mean that the bar is not tested until a new bar has started (essentially, you are checking 1 bar behind the current bar).

Hi John, thank you very much for your direction. I updated alerts and they show up in the next bar as expected.

Hey guys,

I have a question to the chart update intervall. I have a classic candlestick chart and the trade DOM besides it.
The update rate / tick rate seems to be a bit slow. So I go into the general settings, set the update intervall to 100 for example. Click "Apply All". The chart re loads all the data. In that time, the DOM is ultra fast. Once the chart update was finished and I can see the candles again, the DOM is slower like it was before with a refresh rate of 500.

Can that be? Is that a coincidence?

Both the Chart and the Trading DOM have their own "Chart Update Interval" settings. So it is not possible for the Trading DOM to be updating faster due to the data reloading in the chart, as the Trading DOM is going to update at the interval that is set.
