On the latest version on spreadsheet Study there is not any more the chance to export directly in Excell
There is not anymore the line: USE EXCEL yes / no
Is it possible to put it back? or is there any other possibility to easily export in excel that I didn't see?

Did you need an automatic process to export to Excel? We could add an automatic method to save the Sierra Chart Spreadsheet Sheet data to a text file. That could run periodically.

on the previous version of Sierra charts on the Spreadsheet Study, "Settings and Inputs" there was a line named:
"Use Excell" and you could set yes / no
If you put yes as soon as the apply button was clicked, automatically an excell spreadsheet was open with already all the content of the default spreadsheet study.
Could it be possible to leave it at it was in the past?
Actually I only need to have directly all the spreadsheet study content on excell, yes an automatic process to export to Excel as it was before.
Most of our students where using this function and definitely miss it.
Tks

This feature was removed as part of the process of organizing the code in Sierra Chart better and allowing it to be ported to other operating systems.

We have mentioned, that this feature is eventually going to get removed. We can add the capability to automatically write a spreadsheet to a text file periodically. Let us know if that would be helpful and we will implement that .

well actually we don't need the excel spreadsheet to be connected realtime as it was before, it could be ok just a snapshot, like having an option or a button to export a snapshot of the spreadsheet study to excell.
This could be a solution
tks

We can definitely add the capability to write a particular Sheet in a Sierra Chart spreadsheet to a text file periodically. We will do that.

And Excel does have the capability to automatically refresh after a specified number of minutes, from the data source which in this case would be a text file. Consult with the Microsoft Excel documentation about this.

Will that also work when there are more than one sheet in the Sierra Chart spreadsheet (as this is usually the case)?

Yes. The setting will be on the Spreadsheet study itself. So you can set this on each instance of the Spreadsheet Study to give you the capability to save more than one sheet.

Is it possible to implement the excel RTD protocols allowing for the exportation of real time data to the spreadsheet.

No chance we will waste our valuable time with Microsoft trash interfaces.

I'm at a lost to understand that comment with respect to the current SC capabilities. Your choosing an inferior spreadsheet with a better interface over a superior spreadsheet with a "trash" interface while simultaneously limiting the end user's ability to optimize their data feed Why? If your not motivated to write your own interface why not partner with rythmic they have coded their own excel interface??

We are no longer supporting Rithmic and that is all we can say. Also, you can develop your own interface between Sierra Chart and Excel by using ACSIL or the DTC protocol server:
Advanced Custom Study Interface and Language (ACSIL)
Data and Trading Communications (DTC) Protocol Server

And it is up to Rithmic to create proper compatibility between Rithmic and Sierra Chart by using the DTC Protocol. The problems with the existing interface is because they provided a problematic API in the past and we are certainly not going to be burdened with the new solution they have. They need to solve this. Not us.

Thx that clarifies several of my questions. Perhaps you could save me the time of exploring both of your solutions and choose the simpler one for exporting real time data to excel. It appears to be the DTC protocol?

Does the fact that TT has RTD functionality and I'll be using their SC supported data feed save me the effort of developing my own interface?

We apologize for the delay.

Well if we were to do something like this ourselves, it would probably be easiest to use ACSIL and feed Excel the data by accessing the data through this function:
sc.GetTimeAndSales()

Here is the full documentation for ACSIL:
Advanced Custom Study Interface and Language (ACSIL)

Does the fact that TT has RTD functionality and I'll be using their SC supported data feed save me the effort of developing my own interface?
No, this does not save you the effort because that is completely separate functionality from what Sierra Chart uses from TT.

If you need your Sierra Chart account activated during this development just let us know.

will there be an option to periodically save sheet as a txt file or a csv file? Or perhaps a "delimited" text file?

You have added "Periodically Save Sheet as Text in Minutes" to the SpreadsheetStudy
Is this working already? If yes, where is the txt-file stored at? If not, when is it coming?

Please also add, that the txt-file is saved right away when the chart is opend and data has updated. That way one doesn't have to wait for at least 1 minute.
