Bug/Issue found with Chart Drawing Copying and Inverted Charts

Functionality works fine for normal crosses between inverted/uninverted. But please check on GBP-X or CHF-X, if two of the same are open, and one is inverted, clicking the object on the inverted chart will make it disappear. Drawing on the inverted is also impossible. Once uninverted, charts returns to normal. This looks like a problem where the invert result is too low and unmanageable?

Same thing is now happening with normal FX pairs. Try drawing a box on a non-inverted, go to inverted chart, modify box. Box disappears and can only be deleted in 'Manage chart drawings' window

I would also suggest looking at the copying between chartbooks after, although I cannot yet quantify what the problem is because of the above getting in the way.

Please check attached screenshot captures. Pink line is drawn at 141.50 on GBPJPY, which was touched on 17th October 2019.

Inverted chart shows a miscalculation, which is amended if dropped down to lower timeframes such as 1 min.

I believe this could be the root of the inconsistency described above? Happy to do other research if you need me to, or pay for your time in fixing this.

We do see at least one of the problems when trying to draw on an inverted chart. We have not been able to find the root cause yet.

Thanks John. 2020 - any progress?

The fix will also help global crosshair (in fact even local) in presenting the X-values horizonal line. At the moment only Y-values vertical line appears.

Sorry, we have been busy with other priority items and have not had a chance to dig deep enough into this to figure it out. We should be able to get to it over the next few weeks.

We have fixed the main issue, which is simply that when a chart is inverted and the option for Adjust Tool Values to Tick Size is selected, it would typically round to 0. We have removed the rounding when a chart is inverted, as there is no real tick size to round to.

This will be in the next Pre-Release (v 2023). When available, you can upgrade using these instructions:
Software Download: Fast Update

In the meantime, if you turn off the option for Adjust Tool Values to Tick Size for your inverted charts, you will solve the issue.

Thank you, much more functional. Now when a drawing is printed, it can me modified on the same chart without disappearing.

Last niggle: The copying between an inverted and uninverted still results with the drawing making a disappearing act (if object was attempted to be modified on inverted chart, regardless if original drawing was drawn on it or it's uninverted partner). I have checked this with the inverted and uninverted as master, and with both uninverted where modifying works fine from both charts.

Also Adjust Tool Values to Tick Size has been unticked, on all charts.

We have completed the fixes related to modifications made on copied chart drawings on an inverted chart. These should all work properly starting with release 2032.

We also fixed a few other small issues with copied chart drawings that we found along the way.

Still an ongoing issue with the lack of wicks when a chart is inverted? I thought this would be bundled with the old problem of the candles moving off-position, but positioning seems to be accurate now (see black dotted line). Have attached screenshot to aid, please ask for any more assistance

Can you please attach the Chartbook to this thread that is showing the issue. We are not able to reproduce it to see what is happening. Use these instructions to attach the chartbook:

No problem, attached.

In testing I have also noticed a *slight* discrepancy in objects, specifically horizontal rays. They can be a tiny bit off on the inverted chart, and quite hard to notice

Everything looks fine when we bring up your charts. So we do not know where this is coming from. The following link is an image of the inverted chart as we see it:

One other thing we want to try is to see if this could be related to your Graphics Settings somehow. Can you please attach your Sierra3.cfg file to this thread. The file is located in the main Sierra Chart installation directory (typically C:\Sierra Chart\).

Yes good idea, attached.

When checking, could you also zoom in fairly well, and do a side by side comparison?

Feb 12 2020, GBPAUD 3 min chart

Hope these three examples illuminate it. Looks like just a wick problem and the price offset is just illusory. Happens on all symbols. The arrow replicated over perfectly. Same chartbook and graphics settings as already uploaded

By any chance do you have the option for OpenGL enabled. You will find the setting at Global Settings >> Graphics Settings >> Other >> Use OpenGL For Graphics Settings. Let us know if this is enabled or disabled.

I've been thinking about this a lot, and perhaps one easy comparison is to see what the studies '1 Divided by Price' and 'Multiply Bars by -1' does graphically different to 'Invert'?

There are no errors with the studies, on the exact same charts.

That said, if the logic to code the same functionality (of respecting 'Copy Chart Drawings' across the same symbol) is relatively easy/the same as how you improved 'Invert Prices', that would graciously solve this problem. Being a study, they will also have the advantage of already being responsive to Chart Linking, hotkey-accessible, maybe more reliable, easier-to-read Y-axis, etc. I have also posted the opposite as a separate request here Request for greater multi-chart functioanlity - Chart Linking of Invert Prices , so please consider the best solution.

Any one of the two would save an unbelievable amount of constant laborious switching, re-opening of chartbooks, tallying up which sub-instances is open etc, just to keep the order of which charts are inverted and which is not.

It would be a lot of work to tie the inverting of the drawings to the use of a study.

The problem is that we just have been unable to reproduce what you are seeing with the bars, therefore we have no idea where to look for the problem. We see that it exists from your images, but we just can't figure out why it is happening yet.

@User34124 - Can you please do me another favor. Open a new chart for the symbol ESM20 and select Chart >> Chart Settings >> Advanced Settings 2 >> Invert Prices and then take an image of the bars and attach it to this thread and let me know if everything looks good or not.

Sure, attached, same issue, 5 min ESM20 charts side by side.

One thing to study may be the difference between 1 minute charts side-by-side seeems "better" than 3min.... then as you get up to 50min-ish charts, the problem starts to normalise. Weird, huh? You're welcome to remote view my computer as I display

Let us know if we can call you tomorrow - Thursday February 27, 2020, and what time would work for you, so we can see this on your system. We are still unable to reproduce what you are seeing.

Also, make sure that your phone number is correct on this page, as that is the number that we will call:
