In the case of the Nikkei 225 contract my data feed is Interactive Brokers.
I have imported 1-min bar data from 2006 to date.

Please confirm the following:

[1] Will intraday data be automatically appended, and retained going forward or do I need to perform some maintenance tasks?

[2] I have reduced the Data/Trade Service Setting-->Service Setting-->Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download Limit = 3. My understanding is that even though the data is now up to date Sierra Chart will always download the last 3 days of data each time the chart book is opened, and the connection to the broker is established.

Thank you

1. Yes as long as the data filename matches the current Interactive Brokers symbol.

2. Sierra Chart will try to download what is missing from the chart up to three days. Not always three days.

So before rolling the contract over, I should export the intraday data then import it into the new symbol?

No need for that. Just rename the file:

That is neat.
For the contracts where I did not import data, and are using the Sierra Chart backfill + external feed at rollover I could do the same to avoid downloading the data again; or is that process handled already (without re-downloading)?

In this case you definitely do not need to do any file renaming. You just will want to use the Continuous Futures Contract feature:

Thanks for the clarification - I have set the continuous contract feature for all contracts.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have tested the Nikkei intraday data and it is printing fine for all bar types candles, TPO, renko.....
However, there is a problem with the daily, weekly, monthly bar (Historical).
The bars are candlesticks and the current bar (starting today) prints as a thin vertical line and shows no open or close data points.
All other historical bars prior to today are fine and the problem is only with the Nikkei contract - this is the Nikkei OSE exchange (not the CME Nikkei).

The bars for all other instruments print the daily, weekly, monthly ok (the other instruments are all CME).

What follows all relates to the Nikkei 225 mini contract Osaka Exchange:

The daily bar for yesterday has now printed as a candle but it is not correct in that it does not show the opening gap, today is also printing and does not look correct.
Sierra Chart has daily bar historical data for the Nikkei but does not have intraday data for this contract as far as I can see.
I have set the historical charts to use the continuous contract feature.

I also have historical daily bar data I could import and bypass the Sierra Chart historical feed (if need be). Is there a separate import file for the daily bar? Not really sure how to proceed from here.
