Sierra Chart with CQG Datafeed disconnecting few times a day for about 3 Months now

Hi! the disconnection started about 3 Months ago. Datafeed is disconnecting every few Minutes. AMP Futures changed Location from Chicago to London. But still disconnecting. I am in Germany. I'm on the CQG singapore server using CQG webapi. The disconnection problems were really bad over the past few week. I'm also with AMP Futures and they keep telling me I'm the only one experiencing this problem, when this is clearly not the case just based on the numerous posts on this board. Looks like they're just trying to deflect the problem. The culprit lies with CQG though, not SC so not much SC can do here.

First we cannot directly help with CQG connection problems. And you are not the only one experiencing the problem. We checked our log files and the connection we maintain to CQG shows this: "Connection to the external service has been lost" (773 hits in 26 files) This means that we lost the connection 773 times over 26 days. Now some of this can be end of day disconnects and a small number could be due to a connectivity issue on our side. But this is far beyond reasonable. this connection is from Chicago to Chicago. Now compare this to a high-bandwidth connection to one of our LMAX servers in London, originating from the same server that we maintain a connection to CQG on: "Connection to the external service has been lost" (9 hits in 4 files) So we lost the connection 9 times in four different days over a 30 day time span. This connection is from Chicago to London. Huge difference. So the difference can be explained by a CQG issue or an issue with their ISP. For the absolute best and most reliable connectivity use the new Sierra Chart order routing service based on TT: Sierra Chart / Trading Technologies Futures Order Routing Service This is hugely superior in so many ways and the Introduction section lists several points related to connectivity. Please take the time to read those. This can be used also by users who have Sierra Chart provided by AMP. Also we will do our best to get a Singapore server set up this coming month for this new order routing service. But we do not see this as making a difference if you are just sending orders to the CME. It is only relevant for the Asian exchanges. So in summary, we do want to provide the best reliability for our customer base, and that is what we developed with the new order routing service. And we are continuing to improve it in various ways. Let us explain the details of this. In the case of CQG based upon what we are hearing, when there is a failure to connect to one of their servers or with their servers, you just can't connect any longer until that situation clears up. Assuming the problem is you are not able to connect again which we did hear occurred a few days ago with CQG. What apparently is occurring here is that you are losing the connection and connecting again. Whereas with the Sierra Chart order routing service based on TT, we maintain four different servers in four different data centers in four different geographic locations. Soon to be five. So when a connection to one of them fails, the next available one will be used. Each of these servers connects to a TT server maintaining a primary and a secondary server. So you can see the level of redundancy that exists. When a connection fails, the next connection will still be to the primary server but if that fails again, then one of the secondary servers will be used in a different data center. This is very redundant and very reliable. Compare to what CQG is offering. There simply is no comparison . What we are providing is superior and reliable and is properly engineered. We don't have to say anything more. And there is more work being done on the market data side related to cost and further reliability. I use the SierraChart datafeed and CQG FIX for execution (trading) only. I don't see all the disconnects that people are reporting. Could it be just the CQG datafeed that is the problem?

This is because you are using the FIX connection versus the Web API but we still notice problems based on user feedback with the FIX connections. This really is not good the level of connection issues people are having with CQG. And also we can speculate that because the load of market data is taken off the connection, that can also reduce the incidence rate to some extent. But that does not appear to be relevant here. thanks for the help. Next Week i am going to figure out what is needed to connect to the TT Datafeed with Sierra Charts. I used TT Datafeed for 2 years with TT New Web. Very fast and very reliable. In regards to this, the data feed is provided by the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed. I use CQG web api with AMP. Its been fine. By all means talk to AMP but most internet problems are internet problems not sierrachart, cqg servers, or cqg gateways. They are between the back of your machine & the gateways from your isp (& their issues) to the rest of the internet. As you can see, in that most common case, changing from Europe to London wouldn't make a difference. Also changing the another data service wont fix it (unless its tolerant of your / your isp related glitches). Make sure you use a physical ethernet connection to your ISP router - you don't want to add wifi unreliability and latency to a trading system. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2019-05-31 21:47:11

Internet connection is ok. I made a lot of tests. In Sim Mode the disconnection continues. Failure stopped in Live Mode. I'll talk with AMP again. I never had disconnections with the TT Setup for almost 2 years. I will update the Post when issue is solved

We do not believe this is due to the user's Internet connection. There is just too much of an issue among the CQG users. We do know that some users are more affected by this problem than others. Also changing the another data service wont fix it (unless its tolerant of your / your isp related glitches). It does make a difference, at least in some cases. We did have one user who switched the Sierra Chart order routing service and said they did not have any disconnections as compared to CQG.
