when I create a spreadsheet study for trading , my spreadsheet formula disappears even when I save chartbook and spreadsheet separately.

I have latest version of software.

Thank you.

The first thing to check is the Formula Source Sheet Number Input is set to reference the same sheet as the sheet which contains the chart data:

my chart # on the top of the study says #8 . so default study is sheet#8. however , there is a cell on sheet #8 cell D , it says >> Formula Source Sheet #4. Enter and modify formulas for this sheet on Sheet4.

so when I enter formulas for buy entry , buy exit , sell entry , sell exit in sheet # 8 , it still get erased after I save the file and chart book. I tried to change cell # d , Formula source sheet # 8 but it still does not work.

your help is appreciated.

I entered the formula on sheet #4 and sheet #8 as well. it seems to be working.

so it seems I have to enter formula on both sheets. please see if this is correct.

I have one more question...

after replaying the chart >> I see order entry right after market opens on May 17 NQ chart. I do not see order enrty box where we enter stop loss value etc.

after order gets open up , it does not show buy exit around 950 AM even though moving average cross over is there.

=AND (ABS($J$8)=0,CROSSFROMBELOW(AR3:AR4,AS3:AS4),A3-INT(A3)>TIMEVALUE("09:30:00")) . buy entry formula.

=OR (AND(ABS($J$8)<>0,CROSSFROMABOVE(AR3:AR4,AS3:AS4)),A3-INT(A3)>=TIMEVALUE("15:55:00")) . buy exit formula.

=OR (AND(ABS($J$8)>0,CROSSFROMABOVE(AR3:AR4,AS3:AS4)),A3-INT(A3)>=TIMEVALUE("15:55:00"))

BUY EXIT , CHANGED ABS($J$8) > 0 INSTEAD OF <> 0
.
THANK YOU.

You need to change the Formula Source Sheet Number Input in the Study Settings to 8.

Hi @SCE, I have a similar issue as OP - while I'd saved my modified SSfT under a new name along with the Chartbook which had it applied to several Charts (side note: did this March 2019), when I opened that Chartbook today, the formulas of the sheets as-loaded within the Chartbook were gone. If I open the spreadsheet by itself outside of that book, all's fine.
So I re-opened the Chartbook & went to study settings for that SSfT, changed In: 55 (Always Set Formula Source Sheet To Chart Data Output Sheet) to 'Yes', and In: 70 to 'By Name'. After applying, the formulas are still missing, I presume due to general 'order of operations'.

So question: should I remove the SSfT study then reapply it to fix this?

Side note: I never noticed this happening when closing & reopening Chartbooks with my custom SSfT & formulas applied, in the release versions that were current this past spring.

You have to make sure that this Spreadsheet Study setting is set to the name of the Spreadsheet File:
Chart Studies: Settings and Inputs Tab >> Spreadsheet Name / DLL File and Function Name

We also want you to update to the current version of Sierra Chart:
Software Download: Fast Update

It may relate to accessing sheets by Name rather than number when using the Spreadsheet Study.
