Today I rolled to a new futures contract. The symbol of the existing chart drawings did not rollover despite having the appropriate box checked on the "Perform Futures Symbol Rollover" dialog. So, I updated the chart drawings' symbol using "Chart > Update Chart Drawings to Current Symbol." Then "Tools > Manage Drawing Tools Window > I selected a drawing/tool in the list > Adjust." Now the "Manage Tools" dialog is unresponsive and so is the main window for Sierra Chart. The only way to close it is from windows task manager.

Some items in the "Manage Tools" list are locked. The result is the same for single items that are not locked. No items are hidden. When I unlock everything, save the chartbook, then try again, once I press the Adjust button, the program locks up just as before. After several attempts using different scenarios the result is always the same: the program locks up, and the "Adjustment" dialog box is never shown.

Using version 1894

There are a couple of possibilities here. When you notice this condition happen we want you to press the Escape key on the keyboard and then see if you can interact with Sierra Chart.

If Sierra Chart is in a high CPU usage condition and completely unresponsive that is something else we need to look into. In this case we will need to get the particular chart this happens with and test it.

Pressing the Escape key does allow me to interact with Sierra Chart again.

CPU usage does not increase while the program is locked.

Can confirm this behavior on all charts: cannot access the "Adjust" dialog box to update the chart drawings.

Okay refer to:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.40 - Dialog Windows Do Not Display

Longer-term we are working on a solution to this. The documentation does explain this. We hope to initiate the work on this in the coming months.

Okay, thanks. I've done all the suggestions in the article. CPU load on computer was/is 20% (17% SC) and RAM used is 16%...still no joy.

There's no easy way to update drawings is there?

1) if I export each chart to its own chartbook, update the drawings on that chart, then duplicate it back to the original chartbook, and finally close the old identical chart, all the drawings will be at the correct level but all references to that chart's drawings will be wrong because the chart number has changed.

2) if i change each drawing manually on the original charts, i get to calculate a new level for each anchor for each and every drawing in the chartbook.

#1 will take less time in this case...looks like this will have to be the plan for each contract that gets rolled until you guys get your new dialog boxes up and running. The sooner the better.

We recommend restarting your computer. And keep the number of programs opened to a minimum. Also try running multiple instances of Sierra Chart:
Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time

This is really a complete joke that the Microsoft Windows operating system has such a problem like this.

Also the work on dialog windows is very long-term. Is not likely anything would be out Until the end of the year.
