[Locked] - IB Symbol Problems - MSFT, INTC, CSCO

Today is the second day these symbols are not available.

I used to just have (eg.) MSFT as the symbol, since the error I have tried MSFT-STK-SMART, MSFT-STK-SMART-USD, MSFT-STK-NASDAQ, MSFT-STK-NASDAQ-USD, still just errors.

Has anyone found a way around it? It's obviously not a SC issue (someone else using other API connectivity has the same issue)and I've put in a support ticket, still waiting.

I use standalone TWS ver 9412, SC ver 1048. Both MSFT-STK and MSFT-STK-SMART work. Hope it helps.

I'm using standalone 9412 as well, SC1044.

What I don't understand here is, excluding Futures, I have a total of 61 symbols from IB in SC. All have worked fine, out of the blue 3 stop working, the other 58 are fine with vanilla AAPL, JPM, etc. I could understand if all stopped working, but it's only the 3.

Even more puzzling is these 3 symbols work for you.

Thanks for sharing anyway. I've run out of stuff to try, so let's see what support comes up with. I'll post the outcome here.

SC Support.

Please see here, according to IB they have made changes to their contracts database and the old formats do not work for some contracts (???). Responses from Pete-IB start on page 2 of the thread.

A Quote Tracker user on ET shared his experience.

For MSFT, CSCO, INTC, specifying the exchange as ISLAND or BATS gets data.

I have tried ISLAND and data is coming through. SMART does not work. Fortunately I am not trading from the charts, otherwise there'd be another can of worms there.

This will keep me going until SC Support can work out something simpler, if that is possible with IB.

We were going to be solving this issue today by supporting the Primary Exchange member when specifying Interactive Brokers symbols.

However, IB has contacted us and they are going to implement a solution on their side. You will need to specify the Exchange and the Primary Exchange by using this particular format here:

Make sure you are using the correct symbol format:

If you still have a problem start a new Support Request and provide a copy of the Message Log.
