This week we are going to require an update to upcoming version 1049 if you are using any of the BitCoin data services. Version 1049 is not yet available. The Bitcoin data services will be changed to use our updated server software. If you do not update, you will not be able to connect. 50 levels of market depth will be available at 1 currency unit increments and 5 currency unit increments for BitCoin China. When the update is required, we will make an announcement here and also you will get a notice through the System Notification Window. You can also just simply wait until you lose the connection to the data feed and at that time update by selecting Help >> Download Prerelease. Another change that will be out in version 1049, is that all of the various Bitcoin feeds will be combined into one single Data service within Sierra Chart. Each Bitcoin Data service already uses different symbols so you can just choose among the available symbols in File >> Find Symbol depending upon which Bitcoin data feed you want. Version Version 1051 of Sierra Chart has a service listed named Bitcoin Data (All Services). With this service, you can get charts and data from all of the Bitcoin services that Sierra Chart supports within a single instance of Sierra Chart at the same time. All of the symbols can be found through File >> Find Symbol. The symbols for each service are different so they do not conflict with each other. Version 1050 and higher supports 50 levels of depth. One thing we notice is we have to add a scrollbar to the Market Depth window and we will also allow the colors to be controlled. After updating to 1050/1051 version MtGox data service stopped delivering real-time data whereas BTCChina and Bitsamp data services work correctly. To get latest trades from MtGox it is needed to reconnect with data service every time.

You are right, when using MTGox Trading, you will not receive streaming prices. You did point this out earlier. We said we would solve this, but got busy with some other Bitcoin services work. This is now solved. You can now get streaming data when using MTGox trading. Update Sierra Chart by selecting Help >> Download Prerelease. We apologize for this. The underlying problem is that we have changed our server software to use the new open specification DTC protocol and the MTGox trading service within Sierra Chart was still using the old protocol which was not sending any data from the server. We wonder how MT4 gets the data. BTCE does not have a streaming data feed, or at least it is not documented, and we have to make continuous HTTP requests for this. This could cause us to get blocked with these requests. We will do our best with these.

We have contacted bitfinex . It is our desire, that we will work with them to adopt the DTC protocol which Sierra Chart supports for market data and trading . We will be working to adapt that protocol to a web socket and JSON kind of model if they need that.
