I'm getting strange behavior with Volume Value Area Lines Study.

When I set the Reference n Periods Back to 0 all is fine but when I set it to 1 it behaves as if it is set to 2.

Is this a bug or have a got something set up badly?

Thanks

We need you to precisely explain why you think there is a problem by explaining the lines for one of the periods and why based on the session times and trading day dates there is a problem. It looks correct to us. Before you provide further information read:
Chart Session Times: Understanding Trading Day Dates Based on Session Times

And understand that you have separate lines being displayed for both the day and evening session because you have New Period at Day Session Start set to Yes.

FYI it works fine with TPO Value Area Lines.
See attached.

If the time period is 1 Day and you are using the New Period at Day Session Start setting to start a new period at the start of the day session, then the lines for the day session or evening session will be based on the time period 24 hours earlier for that same time range. There is no problem here.

So I have it set to print profiles for day and evening sessions but these are not treated as separate periods? Instead then, a full 24 hours is the period?

And this only occurs with Volume Value Area Lines study and not TPO Value Area Lines study?

If that is the case is there a way for me to get the behavior I am looking for as described previously, i.e to have the Volume Value Area Lines print a separate profile for each day and evening session and have it set 1 period back. (So day profile shows on the next evening session and evening session profile shows on next day session etc...)

Please see attached.

The way that it works with the Volume Value Area Lines is as intended.

The time period is 1 Day in this case so therefore the look back in this case would be 1 day.

The TPO Value Area lines study has a different internal implementation so it behaves differently but we are going to make it work like the Volume Value Area Lines study for consistency.

To get the behavior that what you want, we will see if we can add an option for that.
