It was my understanding that I could trade S&P cash index $INX as well as the Emini.

My primary interest was to be able to use $INX for back testing and be able to sim executable trades to work out my trading methods. $INX apparently is untrade-able. I am not aware of any standardized continuous contract on the Emini that goes back 10-20 years. I pay for the indexes and I believe they are activated as I track it daily. I am with Optimus, CQG and AMP and I have Sierra Data.

Is there a way to configure the SIM to use $INX data as a continuous contract Emini so I can back test trading strategies? Could it be as simple as renaming it and rounding the data to the nearest .25?

You can certainly do simulated trading of $INX.

And you can always set the Tick Size setting in Chart Settings on it to .25.

There is really nothing special to do other than just altering the tick size.

You can also use the Futures contract itself during back testing and use the Continuous Futures Contract feature:
