Hi,

"It is expected that sometime during 2019 that support for Excel will be removed due to internal changes in Sierra Chart£

As you are going to stop supporting Excel, how can I access Spreadsheet data from my PC/laptop? (ie access the sheet data from outside of Sierra).

The SierraChart internal study saves the sheet data into a non-standard spreadsheet format, which is of no use to me.

Can one automatically save the sheet data into a standard format such as Open Document?

Do you have a link to the source code for the Spreadsheet Study, so that one can modify it to save the data in a CSV format?

Regards
James

How to save a Sierra Chart spreadsheet in a text format is documented here:

Hi,

My apologies.

I know that you can use the 'Save As' button to save your proprietary formatted spreadsheet as CSV files, but this has to be done manually.

It can not be done after every new bar if data

What are you referring to? We have not removed any post. Nothing in regards to Excel support has been removed. We are 110% completely bewildered by your statements.

Why are you making a claim that a post has been removed? And why are you making a claim, that a key Excel support functionality has been removed?

And it has also been many years now that we have not provided technical help for Microsoft Excel and our position on that has been quite firm and it also has been about the same number of years that that the feature has been stated that eventually it would be removed. But as of yet, it has not been.

And there is little doubt, there is an alternative solution and we can help you with that.

For example, if you refer to the /ACS_Source/ACSILSpreadsheetInteraction.cpp file in the Sierra Chart installation folder, you will find example code for programmatically accessing data in a Sierra Chart spreadsheet and from there you can do whatever you need with that data.

Also with the way we see things right now, it is not likely to be until the year 2020 that Excel support would be removed. We do not see this happening in 2019.

And you can always use an earlier version at that time . So support would remain indefinitely on older versions.

And we are certain there are also alternatives. If we understand what your needs are we can give you some guidance. So let us know.
