I had the DOM up and working Wednesday and was able to simulate trades on the S&P E-mini during the trading day. I decided to try running the simulator that evening. And that was when the trouble started. The situation is that initially all live data was lost on the E-mini.

1. It was evening so I am assuming that I did some that restricted trading time.

2. The trading DOM froze up, even with day time testing.

3. Jake at Optimus tried to help and he was able to get the DOM receiving some data but no bid and ask info

4. What isn't clear to me is what are all the parameters that could affect this and would be fixed with an update (current 1828)

You can thank the CME for this. To meet CME rules you must connect to your live trading account once a month:
Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed: Integration with Trading Services

And make sure you are using the correct symbols.

Precisely what do you mean by this?:
2. The trading DOM froze up, even with day time testing.

And make sure you are running the current version:

In a nutshell I could see the chart updating but it looked like it was in slowmo. The DOM price levels do not move at all nor is there any information on orders. "locked up"

I will upgrade now and if it is resolved I will submit another reply

You need to connect to your live trading account as explained here:

There is no way around this.

I have CQG live data feed. It is set to CQG and I am getting DOM info on the S&P Emini. I had to select CQG's symbol and now there isn't any historical updates on SC ESZ18 and CQG is F.US.EPZ18. At this point I only have 3 symbols S&P 500 cash $INX no activity at this hour the EURUSD the DOM shows bid ask with 1 contract and the Emini.

Everything was working fine until I tried to test a trading strategy on the Emini. I couldn't get that to work with the DOM and gave up in frustration. I watched several utube vids before I tried anything and I have screwed something up somewhere.

The data feed is set to CQG and with SC data checked FIX logging checked.

Data:

I am trying to work out trading strategies for the major US indices (cash and futures) and the major Forex pairs. For these, I would like to download as much intraday data that is available to me in off hours. I need to be able to practice and refine my strategy. Once I refine the strategy I would like to test over longer periods of time to see how it performs in different markets. I have worked with spreadsheets from the 80's with the first version of Lotus 123 and dual 360k floppies. So I am excited about moving into that phase.

User was called.

Note that the $INX does not have Market Depth Data. There is no market depth data ever for a cash index. It is just not available. You must have been looking at a market depth window for a futures contract.

Form User:

I am still not sure everything is working correctly. I still get error message "symbol is unknown" for $INX yet I do end up receiving data. What are the proper session times for $INX and other US cash indices?
What are the proper session times for the S&P E mini? I noticed when I changed one session time to eliminate the 15 minute gap between days on the $INX it also changed the Emini. Now I have changed the Emini back to 00:00:00 - 23:59:59 and the cash index $INX is also changed. I still get error messages when I open up SC with each symbol.

DOM on EURUSD I show movement on price a 1 contract on the buy and sell? Is there no depth of market on FOREX like the cash indices? IS this CQG or all vendors? The session time for this is 17:00:00 - 16:59:59. IS this correct for eastern time zone?

I am only trying to work with 3 symbols right now that I think are representative. I have noticed that some symbols are duplicated in CQG am I using the wrong ones? I have deleted everything else on this system. What am I missing?

Just ignore that message if you are getting the real-time data. It might be related to security definition data requests to the primary connected service.

We will set these up for the index symbols in the next few days.

What are the proper session times for the S&P E mini?
These are already preset. Follow the instructions here to apply them:
Global Symbol Settings: Update/Apply Symbol Settings to Charts

There is no market depth data for cash Forex, and those session times are US Eastern time.

What symbols are you referring to? We do not know.

I tried to respond to my support ticket. I did not see nor understood what locked meant until after I sent it.

I followed the instructions and when I looked at $INX it had the correct time. I reset it and now it is on the 24 hour format again as is the emini.

CQG Indexes

S&P 500 X.US,SPC%

Indexs Real Time

S&P 500 $INX

These were the two that caught my eye.

Do not use this symbol:

X.US,SPC%

Only use $INX
