I am trying to download the latest version and got an error message I've never seen before.

"Error saving downloaded files to local system. Stopping installation. Check log. Press "Install" to retry"

Retry gives the same message.

now when I try to open the version I had before I get

"There has been a configuration file checksum error"

Please help!

now it opened and says "Welcome to Sierra Chart - The very first step when using Sierra Chart is to configure it to use one of the many supported Data or Trading Services "

I'm in a panic. Hope I haven't lost all of my work.

You need to restore a backup of the main configuration file. Refer to the instructions here:

same problem and backup don't work
solution (helped me): turn off antivirus
