I will do my best to ask this question. i hope it comes across clearly.

After a recent update i can no longer right-click to exit a drawing mode.
Example: if i want to use the Chart Calculator tool, and i select a starting point, but then decide i want to exit that tool without placing the drawing on the chart i used to be able to right click, then right click again to exit that drawing tool.
Now it seems i MUST complete the drawing, the go back and delete the drawing.

Is this a function of a recent update and is there a setting somewhere that addresses this?

This still works. We verified that. There is no setting for this.

It is very simple. When you initiate a chart drawing and right-click, it will cancel it.

Strange.
it is no longer working for me that way.

>Select Chart Calculator - the chart calc tool opens and i get a pointer
>left click a location on the chart, the calc tool places a starting piont
>Right Click to exit the tool, the drawing tool does stop that drawing, BUT it does not exit the drawing tool mode - i still see a pointer and i have to complete the chart calculator drawing before i can go back to cross hairs. if i right click a second time i get my chart menu, but i still have a pointer and 'm still in the drawing tool. I cannot exit the drawing tool.

Previously, when you right click the second time you exited the drawing tool.

it seems to be the case with all the drawing tools, not just the chart calculator, just using that one for example.

You have to select a different drawing tool manually. When you right-click, it cancels the current drawing and definitively is out of the active drawing mode but it is not going to switch from the particular Drawing Tool you have selected. Refer to:
Chart Drawing Tools: Selecting Drawing Tools

We will see about adding an option though to when you cancel a drawing, to go back to the tool specified by after Single Tool Use Change To.

I'm sure i'm not completely stating what i'm running into.
And the reason it's an issue is because it was working a certain way before, and now is not. it may very well be just a simple setting somewhere, i just don't know where.

i like to use crosshairs when viewing a chart (i do wish the crosshairs did not disappear when i click on the chart). in the past, i could select a tool from the toolbar, decide not to use the tool by right clicking out of the tool and go back to crosshairs.

now i cannot get out of the tool unless i complete the drawing, or manually switch to another tool. Neither of these options works well at all. i just want to the tool to go away when i've decided not to use it.

Is there a setting that sets the tools to "single use" vs continuous use? i have the global setting "After single use...." set to Chart Values, but it's not letting go of the drawing tool. it's like it's set to continuous use instead of single use.

We fully understand and we are going to be adding an option to add support for what you require.

In regards to:
i like to use crosshairs when viewing a chart (i do wish the crosshairs did not disappear when i click on the chart).
Refer to:
Chart Drawing Tools: Chart Values Tool Configuration

There are settings to keep the Chart Values tool always active.
