Hi,

It would be a great feature to be able to visual manage time scale on tick & volume bars.

ex: chosen period - every 5 mins, first 5 min color X, second 5 min color Y, third 5 min color X again, etc...

Would give instant feel for the volume volatility of the period for the price action.

That is not possible to color the timescale but certainly using ACSIL you can color the background behind chart bars as you require. So you can develop your own custom study to accomplish this.

This is not something we would develop ourselves.

It's possible download it for free from our CZ/SK forum.

If the code is free, then they should post the code opeanly and let us compile the dlls ourselves.
Not try to get you to install their pre-compiled dlls(who knows what code it contains) and also asking for your trading account information.

Exactly. I'm neither Czech nor Slovak, but I am a Sierra Chart user, and would like to provide feedback on Ackin's code, but only if unlocked .cpp code is provided when posted here.

Public .dll's not compiled by Sierra Chart Engineering are simply asking for trouble.

Nowhere is written that the code is free
I offer just a study in dll download - not code

I do not even understand this accusation, when the study is not addressed to you either. I respond to someone else and offer him a made thing that no one has solved before.

I've been doing this study for no more than 20 minutes, in my free time (otherwise I make commercial studies and other applications outside of Sierra) and the goal of this study is to help someone, I don't force anyone here to use it.

also asking for your trading account information.
I don't ask for account information - just the account name
it's a normal practice for all third-party developers to protect own work, I don't see anything wrong with that.

Resolving Custom Study File and Access Issues

4. The Custom Studies may not be authorized for use for your particular Sierra Chart Account Name. To ensure that you are properly authorized to use a particular set of Custom Studies, contact the developer and ensure that your Account Name is entered correctly for the studies. The Account Name can be found under Help >> About within Sierra Chart.
Make sure you provide the exact Account Name that you see. If there is any mistake with this, you will not be authorized for the custom studies.
The developer can check the users that are authorized and add users as necessary from their Manage Custom Studies Users Control Panel.

you can sign up for the forum via anonymous email without account name (if you are not afraid to see your IP address), you can first see how we are working before you write such things.

I don't see the reason to post free code of this or another 150 free studies. I'm a programmer and I just protect my work - I think it's common. I have been a user of Sierrachart for more than 8 years, I am also part of a sheet of studies in Sierachart store (ZYP free study). Free studies are just a voluntary thing.

I understand your worries. You don't have to go anywhere and download anything. Your choice...

Hi,

How can you not be happy with someone helping you, to get what you want for free! When nobody else is helping!?
Asking than for the code, without paying for his time, effort and skills is a bit too much to ask for, I think! Or even being rude.

I think it is a very nice way of getting to know a passionate skilled programmer, and test his end products, without paying for it. Usually you have to pay first and do not even know if the end result is going to be close to what is desired.
How many other programmers offer this kind of unique service??

Be happy and pleased if someone is helping you.

If you still want to compare end results, you can always pay a different programmer to get the same project done and then compare.. (Unless you only except and trust dll's from Sierra chart engineering of course)

A grateful user of ZYP free studies!, Nicolaas

Well Nicolass,
Be happy and pleased if someone is helping you.
I didn't ask anyone is this thread to code anything for me.

Asking than for the code, without paying for his time, effort and skills is a bit too much to ask for, I think! Or even being rude.
If you think its "rude" to not want to give out access to my trading account is rude,
Then how about posting your account number, username.

I will not be providing my trading account information to anyone to access.
If the code is "free" then post it in the forum.

The study is free to download, the code not.

I didn't ask anyone is this thread to code anything for me.
You wrote it exactly, the study was not created for you, but for nus1 or for users looking for similar ones, so your reactions are strange.

The study is on 15 lines of code (including initialization) and it's very easy, the code is my job (over 150 free forum studies + also over 600 commercial studies). It's easy - that's why it's free. Long-time and difficult things like orderflow studies or automated systems are paid.
Whether you believe it or not, I don't care.

Who wants it - can download a free DLL study from a third-party developer without code, just a DLL ....and yes for your authorization I need your account name (a standard request from all developers who also offer paid products). These are my conditions, so please respect them.

No more words needed. ... Offtopic....

Well Nicolass,
(?)
Not sure whom you are trying to address..

If you think its "rude" to not want to give out access to my trading account is rude,
(??)
And nobody ever asked you to give access to your trading account, and you should not do this either..

account name
Via the account name, any third-party developer can give you access, and use, off their dll on your own SC platform, this is the normal practice within Sierra charts.
For more info about this, please follow this SC link:
Advanced Custom Study Interface and Language (ACSIL): Redistributing and Allowing Use Only by a Defined List of Users

In your case : please READ only "account name!"; So NO password, NO Account number, NO other account information..

Keep smiling, Nicolaas

I think that the climate warming is creating some damages to the brain of people too:: How is it possible to questions about a forum and a Programmer that is giving studies for free asdownloaded studies when 90% of others programmers just release that as download only but asking (at this is right, it is a commercial choice) for money? If someone wants to have the source code has to pay for it and it is at discretion of the creator to sell it or not. This is not something about Akin or Sierra or whatever.
I personally shared trading indicators idea with Akin and he did make the C++ code for free, of course the source code is yours and it is downloadable on the forum, while it could cost to me from 100 to 300$ to create that study, so I can only say thanks to Akin.
