Hi, just looking for clarification. I am possibly looking to come over to Sierra form IRT

With IRT I use realtime live data from my brokerage account which is supported by Sierra. I then get tick, intraday and daily historical data which backfills my charts each time I start the program (or if I need to backfill during the day for any reason) from DTNMA provided through IRT.

Does Sierra work in this manner and if so what is the cost of the historical data.

It seems this is provided (looking for confirmation) but not sure on the cost.

If provided how much tick, intraday and daily can I download and save in the Sierra database.

Thanks for the time
Marc

Really the best thing is that you use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed for both the historical and real-time data:
Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed

This data feed has a reasonable price.

The details of how much data is available is on that page.

I saw that as an option - but I am looking to see if I can reduce my overall costs. If I do that my costs remain basically the same.

Not sure what Trading service you want to use but in most cases the historical data is provided by Sierra Chart and will be tick by tick if you are using the Advanced Service Package (5).

An additional question to append this thread. Still working on migrating to Sierra and setting things up. I will be using GAIN feed and Sierra historical (tick, intraday etc data).

When I start Sierra it seems to be downloading data every time. Does Sierra Chart store the downloaded data on my hard drive in a database and then every time I close and restart Sierra it just appends (fills) the current data to present or does it redownload it all every time.

This is explained here:

Only the missing data is downloaded.

A little confused. Should I add symbols to the Update list if I have a live feed from a broker (GAIN)?

Also then the data that has been downloaded is stored on my Computer?

And when I start Sierra and see the percentage counting up it is building the chart - that is not the data downloaded.
