Hello SC team,

I know you are very busy, but may I suggest the following feature:

Imagine I have calculated all my Spreadsheet systems for a period of history I need and all signals are shown on chart. Then, I restart SC instance and open a workbook, all those recalculations running again. The thing is, that they are constant and never changed since restart and I only need to see signals on chart. I'm raising this issue, since to start up SC with my calculations takes more than 2 hours (since many history bars are saved in spreadsheet). Basically it starts and runs calculations the result of which I know... So, why not to have something like a snapshot (which might be created before closing SC), which loads on start without running calculations, shows previous calculations and when you press Ctrl+Ins then it recalculates as usually.

I hope i made myself clear.
Thank you for your service.

We will look into this.

One thing we will do is add a command to the Spreadsheet menu to enable and disable calculations. So after a lengthy series of calculations is done, you can disable calculations on the Spreadsheet until you need to do them again.

The calculated formula values are stored along with the formulas, and both are loaded. So the last known values will be loaded for cells that contain formulas. This will prevent a recalculation.

The recalculation most likely is being caused by changing chart data. With the new option we will add to disable calculations, you can prevent that.

Might be, but FYI when I start SC I disconnect from the server, so to avoid constant chart updates, but calculation still takes place.

yes, that would be great! I hope not only values will be loaded, but and their representation on chart will be shown accordingly.

Hello SC team,
was away for some time, could you please tell me if there is any update regarding topic and:

I just downloaded latest version and don't see any options for that...

It is there. Spreadsheet >> Auto Calculate.

It only works in the non-CLR version.

Hello SC team,
I just downloaded the latest version (SC 1090, non-CLR).
As far I as I see "Auto Calculate" option prevents automatic propagation of formula calculation to the other cells in case the formula was changed (actually, this seems also not working, at least up to my understanding, but I need to test it more carefully with better timing measurements...). The most important, that I expected much more out of it. You see, once calculations are done, let's say for 80k rows in 3 hours, all results are saved in Spreadsheet (exp. Cell O76450=TRUE), what I wanted is when next time I start SC and open Chartbook with connected SpreadSheet, calculations for it would be disabled (formulas wouldn't trigger on start), SC would only load and read Spreadsheet file and put markings (arrows) for bars which have value (exp. O76450=TRUE). I would expect not to wait 3 hours again!
Do you have any plans to do improvements in this area?

We have looked into this and Spreadsheet >> Auto Calculate does work as expected.

When you want to perform the calculations of the formulas, enable Spreadsheet >> Auto Calculate. After that disable Spreadsheet >> Auto Calculate and Save the spreadsheet. Reopen the spreadsheet and automatic calculations should not occur.

and calculated formulas (markings) will be shown on chart? I doubt, because I see all rows greater than 3 are empty afterwards...
