Open Order not Matching Stops, Targets and Chart

Hi,

I initiated a limit order position for 8 contracts long. The trade report says I got filled for 8 contracts.

The chart dom was showing I was 4 contracts long, with a 6 point stop, and 2 targets with 2 & 4 contracts. The chart trade line was saying I was 6 contracts long, which at least matched the stops and targets. However both were incorrect as I was actually 8 contracts long.

I moved my stop to break even which was triggered. It got me out for 6 with some positive slip, but then the trade report and the chart shows another position opened and closed for 2 contracts at break even.

I don’t understand what has happened, and what risk there may have been. I am using CTS with server side order management features disabled. This is also with Top Step Trader in the combine.

I have looked at the trade report and what I can see is there are multiple messages stating “modifying of order is being delayed”.

I would like to know what happened here, and is this common to have the chart dom not representing the actual position quantities? In real time I did not notice, only afterwards.

Please see attached screen shot and trade activity.

Thank you.

Disregard the prior post. It has been removed. We realized that the order quantities you see in the buy and sell columns display when those columns are not used for market depth data.

You cannot look in the buy and sell columns to determine the position quantity. The position value never displays there. So you have a misunderstanding. So what you are seeing is just order quantities only.

Beyond this, we do not provide Trade Activity Log analysis for free in this case. That would be chargeable.

We have contemplated this a little more and we do not think any analysis of the Trade Activity Log to see what has happened is necessary at this point.

Looking at this chart image:
https://www.sierrachart.com/Download.php?Folder=SupportBoard&download=19843

In the buy and sell columns you see 4 and 6 respectively. The 4 means there are buy orders at that price level with a total quantity of 4. And in the sell column the 6 means there are sell orders with a total quantity of 6 at that price level.

Ok.
Attached is a video of the trade sequence. That might make some more sense. I will outline what I see as the discrepancies from the chart, and the trade activity.

Here is what happens in the video.

1.  I initiated a limit order for 8 contracts with a child stop of 8 and two child targets 4 & 4 (total of 8 for targets).
2.  The chart says I got filled for 6 contracts.
3.  The chart indicates there is a left over buy limit order for 4 contracts. Why 4 contracts?
4.  And the stop exit is just plain confusing. Price goes through the stop and supposed 4 contract order (which should have filled 4 contracts), but then updates and says there was only 2 contracts and the target and stop updated accordingly. And then it just trades out at break even?

The Trade Activity says;

1.  I initiated a limit order for 8 contracts with a child stop of 8 and two targets 4 & 4 (total of 8 for targets).
2.  It confirms I was filled for 8 contracts.
3.  From there it might be good for you to step in and take a look as there is obviously an issue.

My questions
1.  Why was I filled for 8 contracts as per the trade report, yet the chart showed 6.
2.  Why if I was filled for 6 contracts would the remaining position still be 4 anyway? Should not the partial fill of 6 contracts leave a remaining 2 contracts on the chart?
3.  Why when the stop was hit, was the order not filled for 4 contracts (which was wrong anyway) but then updated to 2 contracts?

Please reconsider having a look at this.

Hi,

Is this going to be looked into? What is the discrepancy on the trade activity and the trade video?

Thanks.

Yes we will look this over. So far we see that CTS indicated you had a position of 6:
Order  06:38.0  NQ.20180900.CME_Eq  Updated Service Position Quantity to 6

This is why the position line on the chart displayed a quantity of 6. So you are saying this is wrong?

The reason CTS shows a position quantity of 6 is because that is correct. This order only filled to a quantity of two:
Fill  06:38.0  NQ.20180900.CME_Eq  CTS order update (Partial)  29456  BA946E17-94FA-4737-8689-D26E07BE6BC4  Limit  1  Buy  Open  7182.5    Open  7182.5  2

It did not fill fully until approximately an hour later. The log clearly shows all of this.

We need to know what particular orders you are referring to. We need the Internal Order IDs.
