Using sierra chart as whole platform solution...

I have only ever used xtrader but iv been looking into using sierra charting for a little while now. I was told that it works quite well and is supported by CTS but I see sierra chart has a DOM ladder function of its own. I was just wondering why would anyone bother with CTS when there is a DOM to go along with the charting on sierra chart? And presumably any of the functionality on CTS or even Xtrader can be replicated by Sierra so it seems like a no brainer to use sierra chart for the whole platform solution.....or am I missing something here? |

No, you are not missing something. We think that what particular trading interface/software someone using is just simply a matter of personal preference and what they have become accustomed to over time. Sierra Chart offers very good and complete stable trading functionality.

I was on to my broker and was told their clients use sierra charting in conjunction with another platform and they dont not offer sierra as a stand alone execution platform...is this common?

Maybe its the way their internal infrastructure is set up im not sure but their "clients using Sierra Chart, use it in conjunction with another platform. We do not have SC offered as a stand-alone execution platform" not sure I should name them though as Iv just opened an account with them. |

Well the only case where we know Sierra Chart is primarily used for charting is with Transact. But that is because they have their own trading software that they prefer that their customers use. yea its not transact,ok so should i just get a sierra chart package and then just become familiar with the dom ladder on sierra before getting off my other trading platform. Iv literally just given the go ahead for xtrader as I thought sierra wasent an option as regards trade execution |
