Can price levels be uploaded using a CSV file? I maintain an external spreadsheet which calculates prices at which I expect a response. I would like to import the CSV file from this spreadsheet as I am unclear if I can replicate the spreadsheet in Sierra spreadsheet and use the prices to generate the lines in a chart.

No, this is not supported. You could use the Sierra Chart Spreadsheet Study for this, and paste the values into the formula columns of the associated Sheet used by that study.

I did not make a blogpost yet, but you can give this new study a try.

This study has the necessary functionality with the exception of using a hosted file. Do you have plans to enable the use of a file stored on the local system?

I will look into that

@LucentTrader

Adding the local file option to this study can be done. This will however take me some time before it is done as I have a lot of client work at the moment.

One way you can already use your local file system is by using a local webserver. The url will depend on the way you set up your localhost webserver, but will be something like this: http://127.0.0.1:80/pathto/file.csv

This little tool is very nice to accomplish this.

If needed I can make a quick video to demonstrate this. If this is completely out of your technical league than you will have to have a few weeks to a month of patience before I can start to work on a new version.

I found some unexpected time in my schedule. The study has been updated to support a local csv file. You can get a trial via the link below.

https://gum.co/SST_ImportLevelsFromCSV

Users that have it already need to remove the study from a chart and reload it to make sure the correct version is used.

Blogpost with video is still to follow.

Enjoy.

Can a setting be added to extend the line to the left? Either for the entire chart range or multiple days.

There is now an option to choose "All Days" in the "Date Selection" setting In:14.

Restart SC to auto download the latest.

I restarted SC. The "Date Selection" displays only "Manual Set Date" and "Date Column". The custom study displays v1726. Consequently the download may not have happened.

Using the CSV study for the last few days shows promise. Next is to integrate with "Color Bar Based on Alert".

Added Setting features that would be advantageous. Reverse Color for Labels. Currently these can not be modified on the Subgraph. Horizontal/Vertical Alignment on Number and Label.

You should also remove the old study from the chart newly add the study. Since I made changes to an input value.

Will add the reverse color, but alignment on value and label is already there.
What do you mean with integrate with cbboa?

I have removed and added the study as well created a new chart and added the study. In both cases the "All Days" selection is not displayed.

By integrating with cbboa I am referring to adding the price values of the csv study as an input to the cbboa will enable me to use these values as a trade signal.

One thing you can try. Remove the SST_ImportLevelsfromCSV.dll and SST_ImportLevelsfromCSV_64.dll from your SC data folder and restart SC.

Attached a pic of the location of the "All days setting"

The lines that are drawn are SG's so you can use them with the cbboac study. First SG is the first line etc. Zones use two SG's first is top price, second SG is bottom price and so on.

Another edit: If you do not import the labels and not set the alignment using the study inputs, you can also set Subgraph name and value label individually in the subgraph settings.

I have removed the SST_ImportLevelsfromCSV.dll and SST_ImportLevelsfromCSV_64.dll from the SC data folder and restarted SC. The SST_ImportLevelsfromCSV_64.dll was not downloaded.

I appreciate your assistance. I will process the payment for the study today as the csv import is of value to me.

Thank you,
Mark

Try again. Somehow the 64 bit version was not linked to the correct file. You should see it now. You still have a few days of access to try. My apologies.

No apologies necessary. Your support is stellar exceeding my expectations.

The study works with "All Days" selection displayed.

@sstfrederik ,

currently it supports maximum 60 levels, can this be expanded to 90 or 120?

This is the limitation on the number of Subgraphs available in SC. So the short answer Nope.

What you can do is create a second csv file for your additional lines and load a second study on yr chart pointing to the second csv file.
A bit more maintenance this way but you can show a max of 60 lones or 30 zones per study.

Hope this helps.

Yes that is true, Sierra Chart has a maximum of 60 subgraphs per study.

@sstfrederik,

Would it be possible to do something like this, have 2 copies of the study, but the first study has the option of an input to read which set of rows you want from the csv, so for example study 1 reading price and text from rows 1-60, and then the second study can read rows 61 and onwards?

If you take a look at FT71 levels, it has more than 60 levels to plot, and quite a few of them are in rows 60+ that are more relevant to the current day than the ones from rows 1-60 (which are levels much below and higher than where the market is currently).

I should be able to add a starting row as a new input value. Give me a few weeks to implement. It's a bit busy at the moment.

"Import price levels/zones from a local or hosted CSV file" received an update.

The "FirstLine" input is now changed from a selection option to a number input setting. This change allows you to select a starting line in your csv file from where the lines or zones should be referenced. It is now possible to use a csv file that has more than 60 lines of data (30 if you use zones) (SC's maximum SG limitation).

As an example, if you want to display lines on line 61 - 100, you can simply load the study a second time and set the "FirstLine" input setting to 61.

Be aware. The default value for the FirstLine setting is 2. This assumes the first line (line number 1) is skipped because it is normally filled with the text of column names.

Please restart SC to auto download the last version, also make sure to remove the study from your charts before adding the study again. This will make sure you are using the final version.

If there are any questions, just send me an email.

Kind regards,

Frederik
