Hi,

I've got a chartbook loaded with 2 charts, daily and 1hr with copy drawings enabled from the daily to 3hr chart. If i draw a OHLC ray with 'Extend until further intersection' option enabled on the daily chart, then on the 3hr chart the drawing sometimes draws as expected, but other times it appears but is not extended. I've also noticed that when I have a few of the OHLC rays drawn on the daily and they fail to extend on the 3hr, then the performance/responsiveness drops dramatically on the instance and can become unusable. FYI the performance issues are happening in a chartbook where I have 5 charts on which drawings are copied from the daily chart (no studies loaded and minimal days to load)

Please see the image below for an example of where 2 of the OHLC rays were not extended

I've got no studies loaded and using 365 days of data on 3hr chart. I've also set session times at 00:00:00 to 23:59:59. If I change the session times to 22:00:00 to 21:59:59 (which is what I normally use) then the issue happens even more frequently and different rays are affected and will not be extended.

Btw, I've just tested this with the Horizontal Ray tool also and the same problem exists

Thanks
S

Can you provide us the Chartbook that this is happening with. Here are instructions to attach it:

Hi

See attached.

If you erase all non-text drawings on the daily chart, which the OHLC rays are being copied from then the lag goes away and all charts become responsive again.

Thanks

We found that the problems you are experiencing are related to the following topic:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.33 - Dotted or Dashed Lines >= 2 Pixels in Width

Hi,

Other platforms are able to have different style and width lines without lag issues. Is there something that could fix the problem? On MT4 I would use different line styles for different purposes, for example solid for highs/lows and dashes for Opens and dotted for closed. Thickness would vary for different timeframes. Using solid lines for everything is not an option unless I use multiple charts but then all the info isn't in one place and becomes confusing to maintain.

I am probably overly simplifying the problem, but if the windows geometric pen must be used and 1 pixel lines have no performance penalty.... Then instead of making line width thicker when rendering a single dashed line with 2 pixel width, would it be possible to draw 2 lines with 1 pixel width each parallel to each other and with no gap in between them? This would mean no performance penalty and you achieve the desired outcome?

Is the line intersection issue something that can be fixed?

Thanks,
S

The performance issue is at the operating system level.

You need to use a solid line to avoid the issue.

With regards to the problem where the lines are not extending on the chart where they are copied to, we do not see those same lines in the Chartbook that you supplied. All the lines in the supplied Chartbook are extending properly. In addition, when we have tried to reproduce the problem, we are unable to see this issue.

If you can supply us with a Chartbook that shows the same problem, then we will be able to look into it further.
