hi support,

Currently, the bid volume works like this ( http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/GlobalTradeSettings.html#ColumnDescription_RecentBidVolume ):
The Recent Bid Volume column can be left, center or right aligned. It calculates and displays the total Bid Volume at a price level where the market traded at and stayed at that price. The Bid Volume accumulates when the price level is traded at without changing. Therefore, if the market trades at the same Bid price multiple times, the Bid Volume is accumulated at that price level.

The Bid Volume for a price level is reset when the market trades at a different price level, then trades back at a price level where there is previously accumulated Bid Volume and the new trade is at the best Bid. At that time the previously accumulated Bid Volume is reset back to zero and will display the Bid Volume from the most recent Bid trade. This resetting is completely independent of the Recent Ask Volume.

However, I was wondering if we can add a feature to customise the condition the recent trade numbers are reset according to user preference.

For one I would like to replicate Jigsaw's Current Trades Columns, because it makes the recent bid/ask volume columns much more valuable/readable. Below is from http://www.jigsawtrading.com/downloads/JigsawProductManual.pdf (Page 42 of 54):

In this example we can see 90 contracts have traded at 1317.75 and 0 contracts have traded at 1318.00. When this 1317.75/1318 became this inside bid/offer, we reset the number of trades here and started to accumulate them So, if we leave a price and come back to it, the qty of contracts in these columns is reset.

There is an exception to this. If we leave a price for a short period of time and come back to it, then we do not clear the traded quantities. By default that ‘short period of time’ is set to 2500 milliseconds (2.5 seconds).

The idea is that we show the number of contracts to push through the level but it often leaves a level for just a short amount of time and comes back to it. In that case, we don’t consider it to have really left.

Is this customisation available in SC?

If so, I apologise if I could not find it.

If not, can we consider adding this feature?

Thank you!

yeah, spoiled by jigsaw and how well they made their dom.

the inside bid/ask staying for the extra period is a critical feature for anyone switching from jigsaw to SC.

hoping for good news from SC support :)

This feature is of great benefit for those who primarily use the DOM for trading. The delay depends on the instrument traded; for Treasuries for example, a period of 10 seconds would be "best". Jigsaw, afaik, is the only one who has this feature and makes it stand out from the others, including Sierra Chart (I'm sad to say). I would really appreciate it if this feature would be implemented. Thanks for your consideration.

Did this thread request get implemented in the most recent release 1725 that says:
Implemented Global Settings >> Chart DOM Settings >> Recent Bid Ask Volume Timeout in Milliseconds. Documentation will be updated as soon as possible.

Hello, is it working?
"...to continue to show the previous market depth in areas where actually no market depth is available so that no spaces are created." ?
If yes, but how? if no, it will ? ;)

Thank you very much!

If i am understand right, CL (NYMEX Crude Oil) is only ticker with depth more then 10 at CQG datafeed at least?
With CTS Crude have 10 only.. But with CQG - it's ok - endless.

In the next Pre-Release (v 1933) we have added the ability to highlight the Best Bid and Best Ask within the Recent Bid and Recent Ask columns. You will find the settings for these under Global Settings >> Graphics Settings - Global (or Chart >> Graphics Settings) as the following:
- Chart DOM Recent Bid Best Bid Background
- Chart DOM Recent Ask Best Ask Background
- Trade DOM Recent Bid Best Bid Background
- Trade DOM Recent Ask Best Ask Background

To display these backgrounds on the Chart DOM or Trade DOM, just select the Enable option for the backgrounds you want to see and select OK or Apply.
