SC + Rithmic -> accessing an old futures contract

Support Request:

Hello SC,

i am using SC with the Rithmic datafeed and want to open a specific futures contract.. this is no big deal for those >= 2010, e.g. ESH8-CME what translates to ES March 2018 but i dont know how to open a contract pre 2010 like March 2008 for example. ESH08-CME doesnt seem to work.

Any advise?

thanks,
Andreas

Only use the symbols you find in File >> Find Symbol. do not manually enter them unless they are stock symbols.

There is not data available for ESH08 with the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service. For ESH18, follow the instructions here:

very funny, SC.. i specifically asked for ESH08 data and you suggested to use the SC historical data service...

so, is there no way to load up a ESH08 contract?

fun fact: i have the data locally available and cant access it...

Yes, because we did not check to see if that contract was available. The answer and the documentation was in relation to the fact that you needed to use a service which supports two digit years.

So no, the Intraday data for that symbol is apparently not available back that far.

how far back goes the history you offer?

file -> find symbol obviously wont help me with that as it goes as "far" back as sep 2017 which obviously would be a bad joke if you wouldnt have further back data available..

It varies based on symbol and is documented here generally:

https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php#Included

When you are near the edge of the beginning of the historical data for a particular futures market you just have to use trial and error to see what data is available.
