Please see attached images SC-1 and SC-2.
SC-1: About Sierra Chart - Version: 1644
SC-2: Aligned Renko Bar (in ticks) -> New Trend Bar When Range Met | New Reversal Reference Prior Close

1. Please note the Renko shape/form in SC-2.
2. I am unable to duplicate the renko shape/form of SC-2 in the current version 1649. In version 1649 I have tried every [New Trend Bar] option from the drop-down selection but every selection produces only standard [New Trend Bar]shape/form.
3. Surely this is not working correctly.
4. Please advise.

Note: I am running 1644 on one system and 1649 on another so that I can compare/monitor fixes.

There has been a change with that setting and it is documented on the What is New page for version number 1647:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/Whats_New.php#SCVer1647

In 1647 and higher, these settings work absolutely correctly. You need to refer to the descriptions here:
Renko Bar Charts: Renko New Bar Mode

We cannot provide further help for this.

1. Thanks for reply.
2. To repeat - I am unable to duplicate the renko shape/form of SC-2 in the current version 1649. In version 1649 I have tried every [New Trend Bar] option from the drop-down selection but every selection produces only standard [New Trend Bar]shape/form.
3. Have you duplicated the Renko shape/form as illustrated in SC-2 ?
4. If so, what are the settings ?
5. To repeat - I am unable to duplicate the renko shape/form of SC-2 in the current version 1649. In version 1649 I have tried every [New Trend Bar] option from the drop-down selection but every selection produces only standard [New Trend Bar]shape/form.
6. Or does 'there has been a small change' interpret as 'the Renko shape/form as illustrated in SC-2 is discontinued'.
6. Please advise.

Yes!! That particular Renko New Bar Mode has only been out two weeks and there was a mistake with that reversal method. We corrected the mistake and you were relying upon an incorrect implementation. Furthermore, that particular setting (New Reversal Bar When Reversal Amount Met Plus 1 Tick and References Prior Close) is nonsense anyway. So you should not even be using it.

I disagree its nonsense and is otherwise referred to as rail to rail renko. I have it exactly in other charting.

OK we have never heard of this and that was not the intention to create whatever that is.

Also, there definitely was a mistake with the prior implementation with what was originally intended and it was corrected.

Could you describe the methodology of rail to rail Renko and we will see if we can add that.

If literally what you want is New Reversal Reference Prior Close we can certainly add that back as an option. But we just need to know that there is a reasonable basis for it.

Really this whole support request is taking us by surprise.

Has anyone else heard of what they are asking for?

I'm not that accomplished a programmer. However an MT4 EA can be downloaded here for review - https://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=535170. Choose the 'Rail to Rail' option. The attached image illustrates. However, if there be no wider appeal no need to sacrifice the field for a lily. Thanks for clarifications.

We need a simple, clear and concise explanation. We are not going to look at the code of another program.

That is out of the question. It is not worth our time. So if you could maybe ask there for an explanation or refer us to one, we might be able to work from that.

Thanks for response and time. It is very much appreciated.
To clarify - the reference was to a locked file so the code is not available. I thought the source Renko rang shape/form would be illustrative and explanatory.

0. Assuming a Renko range of 10 then every increment or decrement of price by 10 marks a price rail and a new bar range is rail to rail. Below bar are assumed no wicks.
1. Bar 1: Price falls - a new bar prints with range 350 to 360.
2. Bar 2: Price falls to 340 without touching 360 - a new bar prints with range 340 to 350.
3. Bar 3: Price rises to 350 without touching 330 - a new bar prints with range 340 to 350.
4. Bar 4: Price falls to 340 without touching 360 - a new bar prints with range 340 to 350.
4. Bar 5: Price falls to 330 without touching 350 - a new bar prints with range 330 to 340.
5. Bar 6: Price rises to 340 without touching 320 - a new bar prints with range 330 to 340.
6. bar 7: Price rises to 350 without touching 330 - a new bar prints with range 340 to 350.
7. From the above it can be determined that every reversal has a minimum of two or more bars of the same price range - please see attachment Rail to Rail - 2 and SC - 2.

Summary of above:
Bar 1 is formed between price rails 350 and 360.
Bars 2,3 & 4 are formed between price rails 340 and 350.
Bars 5 & 6 are formed between price rails 330 and 340. (minimum 2 or more more bars reversal)
Bar 7 is formed between price rails 340 and 350.

If the above is not perfectly clear may be better to move on and refer me to programmer for a quote if the above can be implemented via custom study.

Comment: May be of interest - attachment Better Renko illustrates a slight difference to the above - offered by an established charting package.

This is now implemented. We are releasing it now into the next revision of 1650.

There is a new Renko New Bar Mode option for this. It is New Trend Bar After Range Met | Allow Change Direction of Current Bar | New Reversal Bar When Reversal Amount Met

Thank you for implementation of above - New Trend Bar After Range Met | Allow Change Direction of Current Bar | New Reversal Bar When Reversal Amount Met.

1. The above has print errors - please see attached image SC-AR-1a.
2. The blue arrows point to incorrect reversal bar prints of only one bar instead of a minimum of two or more bars. Please see below a) and b) copied from above post #11:
a) 7. From the above it can be determined that every reversal has a minimum of two or more bars of the same price range - please see attachment Rail to Rail - 2 and SC - 2.
b) Bars 5 & 6 are formed between price rails 330 and 340. (minimum 2 or more more bars reversal)
3. Further to a) & b) the corresponding but now defunct [New Trend Bar When Range Met|New Reversal Reference Prior Close] incorporated in version 1644 (retained for reference and comparison) executes perfect prints in accordance with the described method and compares exactly to other alternative charting.
4. Ignore blue ring in attached image SC-AR-1a - it indicates daily 22:00 rollover break.

regards.
