Hello support, I trade through Infinity Futures and have a full Sierra package provide by them. Since this past weekend my Sierra Charts crashing on regular basis after running normally for about 10-15 min. No error messages are displayed before the crash, no slowness or any other problems are detected. CPU is only about 25% and 30%-60% memory utilization. The platform just freezes and shuts down after generating a message "Sierra Charts has stopped Responding". I am running Windows-10 Professional and the only thing that has changed over the weekend is that Microsoft has pushed down major Windows-10 update. I have tried upgrading to the latest version of Sierra but the issue is still there. Running for 10-15 min without any problem or slowness and shutting down. I am currently running Sierra version 1644. Please advise. Thank you. |

We have seen a couple other similar reports from users running Windows 10. If it is due to Windows 10, there really is not much we can do at the moment until we understand the problem. But it does look as though that this is a Microsoft issue and they will need to resolve it. If it is due to custom studies, then use Safe Mode: Sierra Chart - Software Login Instructions: Using Safe Mode For the record, Windows 10 is not a stable operating system and should be avoided. Hi and thank you for your prompt reply, I appreciate it. This is really not an answer that I was hoping to receive. While I entirely understand that this may very well be a Microsoft problem, I have no way of approaching Microsoft to ask for a solution. They will immediately blame this on the product (Sierra) and will not investigate without a concrete proof that the issue is indeed caused by a Windows Operating System. Can you recommend any temporary remedy so I can continue operate my trading business? This is really a critical issue and not just a matter of convenience. I would sincerely appreciate any practical recommendation on how to alleviate this problem and make the platform stable while you guys working on identifying the root cause of the problem. Thank you, Dmitry. |

We have no temporary remedy. We do not even know what the exact problem even is and we may never know if we cannot reproduce it. We also do not know when we would look into this. What we would do is a basic test and if we see no problem, then there is nothing further we could do. If we start to see an increasing number of reports, then we would look more into it. This is why we say avoid Windows 10. There have been so many problems reported related to that operating system, not related to Sierra Chart but just in general, across the Internet. Based on our own experience, Microsoft has entered an era of continuously unstable software across many of their products and it is getting very concerning. So this is simply the reality, if you choose to use their newer stuff. Our recommendation is to use Windows 7, server 2008 or server 2012. So the proper solution from your side is to get off of Windows 10 and recognize that Microsoft is working against you. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Given the facts stated above, are there any plans to port Sierra platform to Apple OS? Apple is a Unix / Linux based operating systems and is way more stable as well as practical than any windows platform. This would be a huge benefit for the entire User community.

We want to let you know, we did some testing today on Windows 10 and we did not observe any kind of problem like this. And there is certainly a fair number of Windows 10 users among the Sierra Chart users. We have seen some instances of this. But we do not think we could reproduce anything on our side. Given the facts stated above, are there any plans to port Sierra platform to Apple OS?
Yes this is a very long-term and involved process. It is not something that can come soon.
