Technical problem: spreadsheets intermittently stop updating

When I upgraded from version 1011 to 1019 (.net version) my spreadsheets ran into problems. They stopped updating with new chart data, and now when I attempt to load a new spreadsheet study and click the corresponding sheet # to the chart, nothing populates it is completely blank. This is the second time I have experienced this issue. Last time it was fixed by completely reinstalling and going into backups of spreadsheets when they still worked. However this time I cannot seem to correct the probelm by following those steps previously outlined.

The up date was done with the chartbook open. Which I fear may have caused the problem. Any suggestions or input to fix this?

Check the Chart Data Output Sheet Number input with the Spreadsheet Study to be sure it is 0.

It does not matter if Sierra Chart was being downloaded while you had a Chartbook open.

could there be any other reason why my spreadsheeets are always glitching out on me and stop updating with the charts. Is there anything I may have done while replaying charts that could have effected this?..it is very frustrating

Ok so I have been forced to create a new chartbook again I would like if I don't have to change all the references on my spreadsheets to sync up with correct sheet # as it would basically be the same thing as starting all over again....

Is there at least away that I can change the chart# of a chart?

The way to change the chart number of a chart is to repeatedly duplicate the chart until a duplicate is the desired number, then delete all of the unneeded ones. But there are other better solutions:

-You can set the Formula Source Sheet Number to the sheet where the formulas are. However, if your formulas reference any column H or J cells, you'll have to manually copy/paste them.

-If you have no other spreadsheet studies on any chart in the chartbook, you can safely set the Chart Data Output Sheet Number to the sheet with the formulas. Confirm that the Formula Source Sheet Number is the same.

-You can manually copy/paste all of the formulas.

There is definitely no reason to be changing the chart number of the charts. We do not advise any scheme to try to do that.

We see no reason why a creating a new Chartbook would help. We need to determine what the problem is.

To help you with the original problem, we will need to get your Chartbook and one of the spreadsheet files. Please attach them here following these instructions:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=PostingInformation.php#AttachFile

You can attach them privately so that only we see them.

It is possible to control what Sheet a chart outputs its data, through with the Chart Data Output Sheet Number study input. There is also the Formula Source Sheet Number input which may also help you:

when I opened the chartbook today it seemed to update the spreadsheets for me, but they were stuck for the past 2 days. It is very strange. So they seem to be working now. I am wondering if perhaps something is corrupted in my OS, and looking into that.
I have included the cht file and one of many scwbf files included in the chartbook...however they all appear to be up to date now. Review them if you like to see if anything might be off. Or if you have better things to do I will certainly understand, and will also report the problem/update the book if it happens again...Could many spreadsheets referencing each other cause glitches like what I descirbed?

also thanks for the help I know you are all very busy.

Should not be a problem with many spreadsheets referencing each other.

We did look at the data being outputted by the Spreadsheet study to the spreadsheet you have attached and it was updating. We do not see any obvious problems.

We do notice that there is a heavy CPU load from your set up. Part of that is just because we are using a debugger. What we can say is our new spreadsheets are much more efficient. Although we do not know what the source of the problem is now. Does not make much sense why you would have an updating problem. Unless it is related to what is described in help topic 3.3:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/helpdetails3.html#h3.3

We do not think you would have this problem with our new spreadsheets. So when these are completely ready, and that should be in about 30 more days, we recommend migrating over. The new spreadsheet functionality can be found in the non-CLR version.
