With the GAIN data feed, and all new data that comes into the chart is show as a tick? You can see this in the attached screenshot. I'm assuming I'm just missing a setting somewhere. I tried different values with the Intraday Data Storage Time Unit (up to 1 minute), same behavior

We think the problem is because you are using the -ASK recording suffix with the symbol. Try not using that.

That does seem like part of the problem. When adding the bid-ask suffix the charts start to go haywire until I restart the app. Is there a way to make it work properly with the bid/ask? Since I trade forex, I switch back and forth between Bid/Ask charts while trading

After more testing, it seems that adding the bid/ask suffix breaks the charts pretty badly. If i save the chart, it'll be perpetually broken and will have to be deleted. How can I make this work properly?

We do not know what this means. And you certainly do not need to restart Sierra Chart. You could not have any potential serious problem with using that recording suffix. So we are very puzzled by the term "haywire". That is in conflict with what we know that recording suffix does.

We recommend using the Bid and Ask Prices study instead:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/StudiesReference.php&ID=355#Bid_Ask_Prices

Furthermore, we really do not know how that recording suffix would work with the Gain Capital data feed. Certainly no problems, but it looks as though there is a reduced number of recorded price updates.

If i save the chart, it'll be perpetually broken and will have to be deleted
This does not make sense. Simply remove the recording suffix through Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol. There is no such thing as a chart being perpetually broken. That is not even technically possible.

When i say "haywire" i mean the behavior of the charts is generally erratic and unexpected as it relates to showing tick bars for minute charts. I'm not even sure where to start. At one point, it did seem related to the bid/ask, but it continued to behave erratically (meaning removing the bid/ask suffix would still cause the problem). At this point I've cleared out all old price history (deleted the files), loaded just the "usd/jpy" symbol, and its still showing me what appears to be tick bars for new data. Attached is another screenshot.

As a test, I did a fresh install and the problem is still occurring.

1. Renamed old sierra charts folder
2. Fresh install to c:\sierracharts
3. Configured GAIN account. Production server. Set Intraday Data Storage Time Unit to 1 second.
4. Created a new intraday chart for "USD/JPY", 1 minute.

Problem still occurs. Full screenshot attached

A couple more observations

1. New data comes in as tick. If i select "Delete and Download Data" the previously new tick data is now properly shown as m1 bars, but new data after that shows as tick. (look at the far right)

2. You can see the data before that (before 9:57) will now be 'perpetually' shown as tick until i delete the data files.

Screenshots attached

So if i let the data run and accumulate for serveral minutes, then click "Delete and Download Data", only they last 2-4 minutes are aggregated into proper m1 bars. Anything before that will remain as tick. Screenshots attached, note the time at the bottom of the chart. Don't know what else to test at this point, need some guidance

We apologize for the delay with this.

Also, do not post any further information. One chart image, and one issue report is enough. Additional postings only take more of our time.

We do not see any problem on our server with the data feed for this symbol from Gain Capital. There was a minor issue with a slight inconsistency with recorded bid/ask updates, between our servers and we fixed that. But that is completely irrelevant to the issue.

We are seeing a problem on your side. That is clear. The data is incorrectly time stamped causing unusual problems. And it looks like the update frequency is different.

Tell us your Gain Capital username or account number through an Account Support Ticket:
https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=SupportTickets

We will let them know about this, and see what they can do.

For now, right-click before those incorrect chart bars and select Delete and Download Data.

We would fully expect that it would occur with each and every Gain Capital Forex symbol.

But not futures.

We have contemplated this problem some more. We are going to implement a solution by using the local computer time converted to UTC for Forex symbol data time stamping.

We will have this out, later this evening or tomorrow.

We are not going to get the new release out until the afternoon today.

We did update our server though with the latest changes. But we are not ready for a release for users.
