DTC question

Im setting up a DTC server because I want to keep the data flowing without my main pc being on all the time. I chart the market depth and unless I keep a computer on, data won't collect. So i'm setting up a dtc server on an older desktop.

On the client side-- is it typical to have open 2 instances to be able to connect to my DTC server?

I have my normal trade/data account login and connected on dtc server. Then on client side I have dtc- sub instance (trading) selected and populated. However, I can't connect to server unless I open a second instance?

Also, Even though I get the green light as connected. Data and charts are not updating?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

This is all very confusing to us.

You can do whatever you want. It does not matter.

However, I can't connect to server unless I open a second instance?
This is not relevant to a connection problem.

Also, Even though I get the green light as connected. Data and charts are not updating?

My apologies. Problem was a server side firewall.

I had to allow Sierra Charts for Firewall. Everything seems to be working now.
Thank you

Is it possible to use the server's marketdepthdata folder on clients to update after not being connected? Is this possible with dtc?

No not at this time. That is a considerable development effort on our side which we have not yet gotten to.
