Good morning,
I am using an ATR for my trading and I just got a platform changing from Ninja to Sierra.
I am setting SC and I noticed that even though the 2 ATRs (NT and SC) have the same parameters, they are completely different.
I also noticed that one is based on "close" and the other one is based on "last".
I tried to modify both on open, high, low or other parameters in order to get both the same but the difference between them stay the same.
Can you help me, please?

Thanks,
Fabio.

You apparently are referring to the Relative Strength Index study.

Not Average True Range.

Close and Last have the same meaning.

The other Input setting to check is the Average Type.

Oh sorry, I would meant RSI not ATR.

I checked in my old platform but I can't modify the average type, however, I tried to modify and plot all the M.A. on SC but no one reflect mine.

We cannot provide further help on this. Either the formula is wrong in the other program or the chart data is different.

If you want to match NT's RSI, set the 'Average Type' to Wilders Moving Average

Hey tomgilb,

I've tried all the moving average into the RSI setting but neither the "Wilders M.A." works like I had in my NT.
I was used to using NT and Multicharts at the same time and both had (still have) the RSI like you saw in the NT pic.
So I am asking, why those platforms have the same RSI and SC not?
But unfortunately, I am not a programmer so I have to work out new trading rules into my trading plan according to SC RSI.

Good morning,

I noticed something wrong in the RSI I am using.
please, find the screenshot I posted to see the problem.
How is it possible that the RSI generate a lack of momentum during an uptrend and vice-versa during a downtrend?

Isn't the RSI should be a sort of a "zig-zag" calculated on each bar as per the other pictures attached?
I tried different platforms and with P&F all of them have the RSI like a "zig-zag" and I tried also to modify all the parameters into the RS menu but nothing changed.

Thanks,
Fabio.

The reason this is happening is because the RSI is referencing the internal true and correct "last" price of each of those chart bars. The last is not necessarily at the High or Low and you can verify this by using the Chart Values tool:
Chart Drawing Tools: Chart Values/Crosshair

In the next release, for finished Point Figure bars, we will move the last either to the high or low depending upon whether it is an up or down bar.

So in effect, what you are seeing is technically correct but we are changing it in order to give a result which looks better but is less accurate.

I just noticed that particular about the last price of each bar and I think (now) that this is definitely the best representation.
With this kind of RSI I can see how the market moves and get a better and realistic view of what happened in the market.
So please, if in the next release you want to change it, let me at least the chance to choose which option can view.

Thanks,
F.
