Hi There,
1. I followed your instructions, and the settings in the instructions had already been set, however, verified again but still I was not able to connect.
2. Contacted Transact and credentials (username and password) were valid and the machine was also registered/authorized from their end.

Please note as stated in the initial post, that an older version of SC (V. 976) is installed in the same computer and using Transact credentials for two different accounts these do connect. However, none of the two accounts connect in the newer installation (SC v,1013). I noticed that some "File>Data/Trade Service Settings" options in version 1013 have changed. For example there is no more "Net Connection" option and the default HTTP SSL Proxy Port have changed. Could this be causing the problem. I have experience connecting to Transact and never had any issues when updating SC versions.

Thanks,

We will need to contact TransAct about this for you. The error message is quite clear and it is returned from their system. It is not something we have control over.

We are not sure why there is a connection issue with version 1013 to TransAct. We did take note of what you did say in the first post and did consider it. However, the issue could not relate to our own code. Especially since we have a very large number of other users able to connect just fine.

These other Data/Trade Service settings mentioned are not relevant.

Hi There,

Problem solved.

1.Downgraded the fresh installation of SC V 1013 to 976 (which was connecting to Transact in another installation in the same computer) using Help>>Install Previous Version. Downgraded version connected fine.
2. Upgraded to current version 1016 using Help>>Download Current Version. Upgraded version connected fine to Transact.

Before doing all these I tried re installing SC with a fresh installation of the current version several times but it would not connect to Transact.

I hope you can figure out if there is a corrupt file when doing a fresh installation in regards to connecting to Transact. Maybe a file that is not replaced when you upgrade but that is replaced when you downgrade versions.

Anyway it is connecting fine now.

Thanks.

Did you hear from TransAct on this? We contacted an engineer at TransAct about this on 2013-08-24 for you.

There cannot possibly be a corrupt file when doing a fresh installation regarding connecting to TransAct. There really is 0% possibility of that.

Hi There,
After solution was found as explained in my post of [2013-08-30 02:59:52]problem resurfaced. Contacted Transact through my broker. Transact Tech support logged remotely into my computer and did some research. Re-installed latest version of SC and maybe other files. He (Transact Tech Support) explained that there was a problem with the Transact-Sierra bridge not reading/writing the correct username/password. He the proceeded to store this information manually and since then Sierra connects to Transact but with some issues that I will like to ask you if there is a solution:

Every time that Sierra connects to Transact an icon in my PC's task trays open. This icon is for the Transact-Sierra Bridge, and a pop window opens asking "You Are Connecting To A LIVE SERVER. All orders are LIVE ORDERS. Click yes to Connect, or Click no to Disconnect". This new procedure creates an issue since my system should be connected to Transact 24 hours a day. In case there is some type of disconnection SC will not re-connect automatically as it did before.

My questions are:

1. Is this version of the Transact-Sierra Bridge (Version 1.2.1.5)different from the other versions that came with the SC installation as I never noticed that this bridge opened in my PC's task tray? Is it the way it works now or was it some special installation from Transact tech support?

2. Is there a way to re-connect automatically to Transact without having to click the pop up window as it was in every other previous SC versions? or is this only happening because of an special installation from Transact tech support?

3.Finally, on a different subject, the e-mail alerts sent by Sierra as per Global Settings>General Settings are being sent without fill price information. It shows: Fill Price:0.00, every other information on the e-mail is correct. This just happened today for the first time.

Thanks

1. This is the same bridge that Sierra Chart provides. This is how it works now.

2. You could automate it by utilizing a program called auto-hotkey. Search for it on the internet.

3. We do see this problem and it will be resolved in the next release.

Hi There,
In regards to the Transact-Sierra bridge is the new functionality (to acknowledge connection) something created by Transact or by SC? and if I wanted to make a suggestion about the automatic re-connection should it be made to you or to Transact?.
Thanks

The notification messages that show a dialog box that you have to acknowledge are from the TransAct bridge. As a general rule Sierra Chart rarely uses those types of boxes because we know that they interrupt the flow of processing.

A lot of consideration went into the decision making related to those message boxes from the TransAct bridge software by TransAct management. You can make a suggestion, but it does not seem likely they would change anything because they have to manage risk. They do not want people to inadvertently enter orders when they are not well aware they are connected to a live account.

Hi There,
The notification message to reconnect to transact live server is causing me major problems. For some reason Transact servers disconnect during the night session and as you are aware Sierra Charts will not auto reconnect to Transact.

Is this procedure also present with other broker-dealers or just with Transact. I'm considering changing brokers due to this major inconvenience.

Thank You

There are no pop-up messages that have to be acknowledged when connecting to any other trading service that Sierra Chart supports other than potentially Interactive Brokers but the one that uses can be disabled.

However, in general we would recommend avoiding Interactive Brokers.
