Understanding Spreadsheets Behavior - Saving and Applying to New Chart

I'm having trouble figuring out how to save and apply a modified Spreadsheet System for Trading to a new chart.

I started with the Spreadsheet System for Trading and made a significant amount of changes in allowed fields and renamed it Autotrading.scss. It was part of a 5 chart chartbook and the modifications were made on Sheet5. The other sheets were not modified.

I would like to be able to add this modified spreadsheet study to any chart, independent of other charts in the chartbook and have not figured out how to do this. No matter what I've tried the study always opens on Sheet5. I would like to have a completely separate copy of the study running on Sheet2, for instance.

After searching the Support Board and documentation I've changed the setting for the Chart Data Output Sheet Number to "0" and saved the two studies on my chart as Study Collection, but when I apply it to a new chart (say chart #2) my formulas open in Sheet 5 even if chart #5 does not exist.

Nor do get the desired behavior when I manually apply the modified spreadsheet, make changes to the settings and then add the 2nd study to the chart.

How do I get all formulas originally entered in Sheet5 to open on the same sheet number as a different chart (or to be applied to the correct sheet number) when I try to apply the spreadsheet to a new chart? Is it possible to do this?

Any hints/guidance would be appreciated.

We are preparing step-by-step procedures for this. And we will test to make sure they work properly and then we will link here. Just give us another day.

Here is the documentation:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SpreadsheetStudiesSpecialTasks.php#ApplyingConfiguredSpreadsheetStudyOnOtherCharts

Those steps have been verified to work. So if not, then make sure you are following them exactly. If you still have a problem, there must be something different you are doing that we are not aware of.

Thank you for creating these instructions. While these instructions do create a new sheet with some of the original sheet’s content, they don’t seem to duplicate the entire sheet. My goal is to create my own portable version of the Spreadsheet System for Trading that can be applied like any other Sierra Chart study on any single chart.

My entry formulas reference cells in a trading control input section I’ve created in column BA and beyond of Sheet5 as mentioned was possible in Support Forum posts. I’ve done this so I can tell what my significant inputs and outputs are at a glance and change inputs easily, rather than scrolling through the 90+ rows of column J. After following the instructions, calculations referenced in In Sheet4 the formulas in columns BA and beyond point to empty cells within that sheet – the input cells in Sheet5 are not referenced nor or they copied over.

It also appears that entries I’ve made in the read/write cells of column J are not copied over. For instance I’ve set cell J78 (Cancel All Orders except working Attached Orders (read/write)) to NOT(K3) for a buy entry. In Sheet5 this is still referencing buy triggers on that sheet, not on Sheet4. In Sheet4 the field is empty.

Questions:

1.  Can all cells be manually copied from Sheet5 to Sheet4 without causing problems with columns A through J? I’ve been hesitant to touch the Read Only cells in these columns because I do not want to break the underlying mechanism of the spreadsheet/chart integration that isn’t visible to the end user.

2.  If I am able to copy an entire spreadsheet including columns A-J, am I right in the assumption that the pasted cells reference only the sheet they’ve been copied into, or do some continue to reference the source sheet (and associated chart) as they would in Excel?

3.  If copying and pasting an entire sheet is not possible, is there any other way to simply duplicate the entirety of Sheet5 to another sheet without breaking it? I understand I can easily copy my input section in column BA and beyond, but I’ve also modified various read/write fields in column J and from what I can tell, those would have to be individually copied and pasted from the original sheet or manually reentered.

Thanks.

1. Yes this is not a problem. You cannot do any harm by altering read-only cells.

2. There will not be a reference to the original Sheet.

3. Refer to step 6 here about this:
Spreadsheet Studies Special Tasks: Applying Configured Spreadsheet Study on Other Charts

Just make sure you are running the current version for this.
