Currently looking at using Sierra for crypto trading and want to understand the security measures in place as SC needs my credentials to login to each exchange with my tokens. Does SC retain the PW? How is it held?

Any passwords entered into Sierra Chart are encrypted and are only held on your computer.

You can optionally save the password entered on the main Sierra Chart Login Window:

Can 2FA be used as well?

No, this is not supported.

We think you are referring to two factor authentication.

Correct. Oh so an account would have to take 2FA off to use Sierra Charts? That would be a non-starter. Is there any workaround? I would not be able to enter the 2FA code during login?

We have no idea what particular Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Service you are referring to.

Which one?

It is the initial login. To login SC into Poloniex there is a Polo user and PW required. Additionally there is a 2FA to gain access to Poloniex. Given the portability of crypto, value can be transferred quickly without anyway of pulling back funds so the heightened security is needed. Does this help clarify?

We are referring this over to the developer who developed the Poloniex gateway that Sierra Chart works with.

You may not hear from them until tomorrow.

In order to trade on Poloniex with Sierra Chart, you need a bitsouk.com account.
Create an API key on Poloniex that has trading rights only (and NOT withdrawing rights), then add those API credentials in your bitsouk.com account.
Then, when using the service with Sierra Chart, put your bitsouk.com login/password in the Username/Password field of Sierra Chart.

Your API key/secret is kept encrypted in bitsouk.com database, and can only be decrypted with your login/password. Each time you connect to Poloniex on Sierra Chart, a secure query is made from the Sierra Chart backend server to bitsouk.com, with your bitsouk.com credentials.

In order to steal your API key, that has limited rights anyway, an attacker would have to compromise bitsouk.com database, to have access to your encrypted API credentials, as well as your password that is not stored in cleartext anywhere, and is only tranfered over TLS connections.

This is the best security scheme I could come with. I hope it is satisfying enough for your needs.

Regarding 2FA, this is irrelevant here because what you need is an API key, and NOT your Poloniex credentials.

Sorry for the confusion, we need to improve on documentation.

Best,
Vincent

Understood. Is it possible to see the Poloniex order book? I only see 2 blank columns straddling the price column.

Yes you need to add the Bid Size and Ask Size columns. Refer to:
