Sierra freezes when going into Global Settings after updating it

Hey guys,

Yesterday I updated my Sierra Charts and seemed to work just perfect until I noticed it freezes when I go into Global Settings and try to adjust any settings regarding Chart Trading/Chart Dom/Customizing Chart Dom Settings... That whole field of options freezes the main Sierra Chart window (the whole left side of the menu works fine), while the charts that are detached keep on working just fine and respond as well. The main window remains unresponsive and I have to close it down manually through the Windows Task Manager. I have tried to rollback, download pre release and go back to the latest update, all but successfully. Currently I have version 1531 and the problem persists.

Unfortunately I do now know what version I was running currently to try to roll back to that one to see what happens. Looking for a help and solution. All else, other functions/charts/trading seem to be running just fine.

When you select Global Settings >>Chart DOM Settings, do you see that window display?

If not, then this is generally a Windows resource problem and can be resolved by closing unneeded programs and you may also want to restart the computer.

Chart DOM Settings opened up no problem. However the Customize Chart/Trade DOM Columns, which is the one I am trying to get, freezes the main window, giving that Windows synthetic ring sound.

Restarting the computer did not work. It froze again. The chart in the main window is updating, the chart dome is updating bids and offers but it is completely unresponsive. I can only click on the detached charts, but I cannot do anything to exit the charts or do anything. Only think I can do is hard close it through the Task Manager.

When you select Global Settings >> Customize Chart/Trade DOM Columns, do you see it appear?

If not, press to Escape key and let us know if you can then interact with Sierra Chart.

Still most likely this is due to a Windows resource problem on your side.

No it does not appear, it goes into that freeze mode with a generic Windows sounds when I try to click on anything within the main Sierra window. However the Escape key "unlocks" it and I can continue working without having to force close it manually.

It is extremely unlikely this is an issue in Sierra Chart and is a system issue.

We are quite familiar with this type of problem. It is not common but sometimes it does occur.

Try closing down other programs.

How many charts do you have open?

At this point I have only open Sierra. In terms of the charts, quite a few. Only 1 chartbook, with 11 detached charts and 20 more within the main window (2 of which longer term continuous contracts).

Those are mostly futures charts (CME) and some CFD charts (through Gain Capital).

Update to prerelease version 1538 with Help >> Download Prerelease and see if that makes any difference.

Updated, sadly no difference there. Still can't get to that menu and it freezes up.

Nope I do not have another computer and the issue persists. All else seems to be running just fine besides these 3 options in the Global Settings: Chart Trade Settings, Customize Chart/Trade Dom Columns, Global Profit/Loss Management.

When is there possible new release that could hopefully magically make this issue disappear the same way it appeared? Or any other suggestions even if it is a system issue. What should I try to do please?

To confirm you are having a problem with these three appearing?:
Chart Trade Settings, Customize Chart/Trade Dom Columns, Global Profit/Loss Management.

If it was just this one, maybe there is something wrong we are not aware of that we could correct:
Customize Chart/Trade Dom Columns

But those others, have not even changed recently. Rather puzzling that a system restart would not clear the problem. What version of Windows are you running?

The problem we thought it could be, was not. There were no changes that would have caused or affected this kind of problem. Does anyone else see a problem like this?
