Hovering your mouse over a TC button sometimes will give you the name of your tool config in a tool tip, sometimes it won't.

I know that this isn't a high priority code fix, but I am wondering if there is a way to consistently get the tool tip to show the config name? Some kind of work around?

When you have a lot of tool configs, it's difficult to remember what each one is.

We tested this and we definitely the hover text displayed so long as you have set a configuration name for the particular Drawing Tool Configuration number.

Also the display of the hover text is handled by the operating system and if that is not working, most likely it is an operating system level problem and we could not do anything to help with it.

We really recommend changing the text of the button face to exactly what you want. Refer to:

Thanks for the tip, I will give that a try.

I discovered that the behavior I am seeing is when I have the Alert Manager window up, even with SC itself is the active window. When I close the Alert Manager, this is not an issue.
