Filling data from the end of a csv file to the current day

Hi,

I can not seem to find the proper settings to get a daily historical chart from a csv file to sync properly with the real time feed.

My data vendor's charts are split adjusted. I would like the historical data without the adjustment so I downloaded the un-adjusted data from another source. I can open that csv file and I can set the real-time/trading symbol so that the current bar is updating with the vendor feed. The problem is with the data from the end of the file to the current bar. As the days go by, this data is left blank so that all I get are bars filled with the last close in the file. None of the real time data that came in is saved or downloaded when refreshed. (See pic)

Is there a way to sync the chart where the real time and new historical symbol data is appended to the end of the older historical file going forward so that I do not have to manually update the historical file each day?

Thanks

You need to import the Intraday data:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/ImportExport.html

And the symbol of the file must match a valid real-time data feed symbol.

Both of these are requirements. There is no other way to do this!

Update: The above information is based on working with Intraday data. Not Historical Daily data. We are really not understanding exactly what you are doing . It is not making complete sense to us. Anyway, we are going out of our way to help with this. What you are doing is not part of standard Sierra Chart procedures. We cannot provide further help.

I'm sorry you had to go out of your way to answer a customer (long time by the way) service question. Its an unfortunate part of a service business and why I became a trader instead.

An option to import daily bar data to overwrite the existing downloaded vendor file would seem to be the simple solution. That appears to be what you are doing with the intraday data import. It would be like editing out a spike or some other errant data point. It is frustrating to me that you would end the discussion before it is complete. I am not asking for something all that crazy as you suggest.

I do hope your day gets better. Truly, I do. I love the software and couldn't trade without it.

If this is all you want to do you just need to replace the existing historical daily data file with the one containing the data that you require. This is all.

The file has a DLY file extension and it is plain text data as is documented here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/TextCSVDataFormat.html

Once you replace the file go to the chart and select Chart >> Reload and Recalculate.
